It’s with a bit of ironic delight that our very first CT patient was none other than Howard Eastwood!

Howard was one of the pioneering radiographers to work here in Glen Innes, and his longstanding dedication to the Glen Innes Severn community—through his work, employment, and even his doctoral history of the town—is truly inspiring.
A fitting reminder of what can be achieved in a close-knit country community.

We couldn’t have asked for a more meaningful way to begin.

🚨 It’s really happening, Glen Innes… our CT arrives in 4 days! 🚨

After a huge amount of work behind the scenes, New England CT is nearly ready to go. The support from the community has honestly been incredible — thank you all for your patience and encouragement along the way.

Once the scanner is installed and calibrated, we’ll begin seeing a small number of patients leading up to Easter. While online bookings are being finalised, please see your GP for a referral — local practices have our waitlist, and our team will contact you to arrange appointments.

🎉 OPEN DAY – Saturday 18 April
We’d love the community to come down, say hello, grab a free sausage sizzle, and have a look inside the new practice.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the local trades and businesses who helped transform the old Essential Energy office into the medical imaging practice we imagined. The amount of local skill and support that went into this build has been amazing.

Public Announcement: Delay to the Opening of New England CT

We at New England CT have been overwhelmed by the incredible community support for our mission to bring local CT (Computed Tomography) services to Glen Innes. It has been wonderful to hear that patients and referrers are already planning to use the service and, in some cases, even holding off referrals until we open. Your enthusiasm means the world to us.

While we had been aiming to open early in the new year of 2026, we would like to update the community on our progress and advise that the opening of New England CT has been delayed due to external factors outside our control.

As part of commissioning the new medical imaging facility—and somewhat ironically, despite being located in a former power station—an upgraded electrical supply is required to safely power the CT scanner and associated systems. Essential Energy is currently undertaking the necessary network upgrades to increase power capacity to the site.
These works are mandatory to ensure compliance, safety, and the reliable operation of our equipment. Although the upgrade process is well underway, the final approval stages have taken longer than expected due to required due-process steps and technical sign-offs.

What this means
• The opening date will be pushed back slightly until Essential Energy completes the power upgrade.
• All other aspects of the facility—including fit-out, equipment preparation, and clinical readiness—are well underway or already completed.
• As soon as the upgraded power supply is certified and connected, we will move immediately into final commissioning, equipment calibration, and operational testing.

Our commitment to the community

We recognise how important improved local access to CT imaging is for the Glen Innes Severn region. We remain in close communication with Essential Energy and will provide an updated opening date as soon as we receive confirmation.

We sincerely thank the community, our referring clinicians, and our local partners for your ongoing patience and incredible support as we complete this final step.

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON CT SCANNING FACILITY IN GLEN INNES

Glen Innes Severn Council is pleased to announce that works have commenced to fit out the front portion of the former Essential Energy building at 148 Church Street, Glen Innes, into a purpose-built CT scanning facility.

The new facility will provide state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging locally, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for essential medical scans and improving access to specialist healthcare in the region.

Council supported the development by resolving earlier this year to sell part of the former Essential Energy site to New England CT Pty Ltd, a locally owned family business dedicated to improving regional healthcare.

A big win for us, our client Simon, and the town of Glen Innes! 🎉This week our DA for a new medical facility at 148 Church Street was approved. New England CT will offer computerised tomography (CT) scanning, X-ray and ultrasound scanning. This new facility, expected to open in November 2025, will eliminate the need for Glen Innes residents to travel elsewhere, and will reduce travel times for people in smaller centres like Tenterfield.
