TODAY IS R U OK? DAY

Our staff at Blooms The Chemist share the many ways they take care of themselves to ensure they can show up for their patients.

09/09/2026

This week for R U OK? Day, we're sharing wellness tips starting with the basics: self-care. As health professionals, we know we can't pour from an empty cup, looking after ourselves is how we also look after others.

Here's one of my go-to weeknight meals that keeps me nourished and focused. I hope you enjoy the recipe and use it as a healthy alternative to the classic Bachelor’s Handbag… Not that there’s anything wrong with the Bachelor’s Handbag. ***No chickens (AKA Bachelor’s Handbags) were wasted during the making of this video.

Recipe 👨🏻‍🍳

Step 1
To make the marinade, combine the ginger, sesame oil and 2 tbs tamari in a bowl. Add the salmon and toss to coat. Set aside for 10 minutes to marinate.

Step 2
Heat 2 tsp sunflower oil in a wok over high heat. Add half the salmon and cook, turning, for 2-3 minutes until just cooked. Remove and repeat with another 2 tsp oil and remaining salmon. Set aside to rest, loosely covered with foil, for 5 minutes.

Step 3
Add remaining 1 tbs oil to the wok with the spring onion and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add rice w**e, broccolini, edamame, remaining 1 tbs tamari and 1/4 cup (60ml) water. Cook, stirring, for 3-4 minutes until liquid has reduced slightly. Add the noodles to the wok with the salmon and any resting juices, then toss to warm through. Top with sesame seeds to serve.

Join our team this week for R U OK? DAY as we challenge ourselves to look after our wellbeing so we can show up for the people around us.

As health professionals, asking important questions is a key part of our job. We wanted to share the many ways we look after ourselves so we can show up for the people and community that need us the most.

Kicking us off: Mondays are for moving. Join us for exercise and fresh air, because the best medicine is often just outside. 💪

Check in with someone today. Check in with yourself too.

07/09/2026

This Thursday the 10th of September is R U OK? Day. We know 1 in 4 people might hesitate to ask even when they think someone is struggling. That's why we're reminding everyone that if someone's on your mind, trust your instinct and start a conversation.

R U OK Day is often about asking difficult questions and genuinely listening to the answer. As health professionals at Blooms The Chemist Glenorchy this is our job. And to ensure that we are mentally prepared to serve our community we have to take care of ourselves first. This week, we want to show you just how we do this.

We get up and move 🏃🏽‍♀️
We do our best to eat well 🌱
We put our phones down and take a moment to reset with our loved ones 💗
We regularly check in with our colleagues to ensure we all feel supported 👥
We celebrate each others' wins 🏆
We stay connected with our loved ones ☎️

Ask R U OK, ANY DAY, because a conversation could change a life. This R U Ok day we are asking you not just to have the conversation with your loved ones, but to do your best to look after yourself as well.

Self-care isn't selfish, it's what enables us to truly show up for others. 💫

🧩 Crossword, Sudoku or jigsaw - which is your favourite?

Different puzzles challenge your brain in different ways:
🔹 Word games can support language and memory.
🔹 Logic puzzles can strengthen problem-solving.
🔹 Jigsaws can help build visual and spatial skills.

While puzzles can be a great way to stay mentally active, they're most effective when paired with healthy habits like quality sleep, regular exercise, a balanced diet and social connection.
