Most people don't connect jaw tension to fluid in the face. They're more related than you'd think.
The masseter and surrounding muscles run directly alongside the lymphatic vessels of the cervical region. When they're chronically tight, from clenching, grinding, stress or prolonged screen time, those vessels compress and drainage from the face and head slows.
Gentle circular pressure on the masseter just in front of the ear, heat through the jaw and neck before bed, and conscious relaxation through the day all help. Teeth slightly apart, tongue resting on the roof of the mouth, shoulders down.
Facial lymphatic massage works through both the muscular tension and the fluid congestion at the same time, which is why clients often notice a difference in headaches and heaviness, not just puffiness.
