Today, on Mother’s Day, I’m thinking about the power of Mothers.
Not the filtered version. Not the perfect version. The real version.
The women who grow life while still holding everyone else together. The women who birth with fear, surrender, intensity and transformation. The women who mother babies, children, teenagers, partners, communities and sometimes entire generations of people around them.
Motherhood is a powerful force.
And I believe this:
Empowered birth creates empowered Mothers. Empowered Mothers raise empowered children. And empowered children become the adults who create the necessary change this world needs.
But the transformation of a woman does not begin and end with birth.
Women are continually evolving through seasons of becoming.
Matrescence is not simply the transition into motherhood. It is the ongoing unfolding of a woman throughout her life.
The continual reshaping of identity, body, nervous system, relationships, purpose and self.
And still… women rise each day and continue loving.
When a woman is heard… respected… informed… trusted… supported… loved… something profound happens.
She remembers her power.
Not because life is always easy. Not because motherhood is always gentle. But because being deeply seen and supported changes a woman.
Mothers are the nervous systems of families. The pulse of homes. The soft place and the fierce protector. The memory keepers. The cycle breakers.
The glue.
The wisdom.
The warmth.
The exhaustion.
The magic.
And to every Mother today — however you came to motherhood, wherever your babies are, whatever your story holds — I see you.
To the women mothering after loss. To the women longing to mother. To the exhausted Mothers in the trenches. To the grandmothers. To the stepmothers. To the women mothering their communities and holding everyone else up while quietly running on empty themselves…
You matter deeply. And it is time to mother yourself now too…
To give back to yourself as you do so many others. Your own nourishment will fill your cup and continue to propel you. This is not a luxury, it is a necessity.
How will you create this in your world? Please share in the comments. I’d love to hear your way.
So… Thank you for what you carry. Thank you for what you give. Thank you for the love that so often goes unseen.
Happy Mother’s Day 🧡
