So, I really genuinely care!! Honestly, I do!

As part of continuous improvement I sent out feedback forms to my participants/ their informal support person.

When as Support Coordinators the system works against us trying to simply do our best, this,,, keeps me going!!

💜 The Quality and Safeguards Commission 🤍 has shared a ‘roadmap’ on NDIS reforms.

🚗 As in any journey-expect bumps, a potential flat tyre and change of direction without much warning…. 🫣
Lets just hope there’s enough fuel to reach the final destination 🤯🫶🏼

🤔 My reflection of the week: 💜🤍💜

I operate in a world of glossy brochures and polished websites, saturated with buzzwords and clichés. But words only matter when they’re matched by decisive action — grounded in intention and integrity. Talk is easy. Ex*****on is what counts.
Disappointment follows false promises. As a professional, I may not have all the answers, and I may get things wrong at times — but I own it. Accountability isn’t optional.
It’s how we earn trust.
It’s how we practise authenticity …..

💜 My Friday ritual:
🤍 Reformer Pilates followed by a 5 k brisk walk ….

💜 Why?

Exercise matters for mental health because it works on your brain from several angles at once—chemistry, stress, sleep, confidence, and connection. A few of the big reasons:

1. It changes brain chemistry (in a good way).
Physical activity boosts neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins. These help regulate mood, reduce anxiety, and increase feelings of calm and pleasure. That’s the “I feel lighter afterward” effect.

2. It reduces stress and anxiety.
Exercise lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and gives your nervous system a safe way to burn off tension. Rhythmic movement—walking, running, swimming—can be especially grounding.

3. It helps with depression.
Regular exercise has been shown to reduce depressive symptoms and, for some people, can be as effective as medication or therapy when used consistently (and even better when combined with them).

4. It improves sleep.
Better sleep = better mental health. Exercise helps you fall asleep faster, sleep deeper, and wake up more refreshed, which stabilizes mood and focus.

5. It builds confidence and a sense of control.
Showing up for movement—even something small—reinforces “I can do hard things.” That sense of agency is powerful for self-esteem and resilience.

6. It gives your mind a break.
Exercise pulls attention out of rumination and into the body. That mental “pause” can reduce overthinking and emotional spirals.

7. It can increase social connection.
Group classes, sports, or even walking with a friend reduce loneliness, which is a huge factor in mental health.

The key thing: it doesn’t have to be intense.
A 10–20 minute walk, gentle yoga, or light strength training still counts. Consistency matters more than intensity.

💜 Honestly-if you haven’t incorporated some exercise into your life -do it!!

🤍 When you feel that you can’t face it, OR life’s just way too busy-make time!

🧾 Big Cuts to a third of NDIS Plans
This is an easy version of a newspaper story "One third of reassessed NDIS plans see cuts to funding" by Rick Morton in today's Saturday Paper

📝 Changes to Disability Support Plans

👥 Many people in the National Disability Insurance Scheme had their support cut.
📅 This started in May last year.
📉 About 1 in 3 people less money in their NDIS plans.
📊 On average, people lost 22.5 (about a quarter) percent of their support dollars.
📜 This happened because of new rules called funding periods.
💰 People now get their money in parts, not all at once.
⚖️ This means less money and less choice for people.

🔎 How the New Rules Work

🏛️ In 2024, a new law was made.
🗣️ People were told funding periods would only be used for high-risk cases.
🔁 But now, almost all new and changed plans use funding periods.
📈 Since May last year, 104,964 people got this new plan.
🆕 33,750 of these people were new to the scheme.
✂️ 21,056 people had their money cut.
📣 The agency says almost 50,000 people got more money.
💸 Some of the plans with more got it because of inflation.

🤔 Why the Changes Happened

💼 The government wants to save money.
🚫 They want to stop fraud and waste.
💵 They hope to save billions of dollars in 10 years.
⚙️ New laws in 2024 gave the agency more power.
🧾 One new law lets the agency cut support without a new check or reassessment.
⚠️ Some people worry this could hurt people.

🧪 New Assessments and Tools

🗓️ From July, everyone will need a Support Needs Assessment.
🎓 This is a set of questions made by the University of Melbourne and the Centre for Disability Studies.
🧩 It is called I-CAN version 6.
💻 The answers go into a computer program.
🧮 The computer decides the new plan funding dollars.
🩺 People cannot use reports from their own doctors.
⏱️ The agency says this saves time and money.
⚖️ But some people say it is not fair.

🧭 Appealing Decisions

🔄 Right now, people can ask for a review if they do not like their plan funding.
⚖️ They can also go to a special place called the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) to ask.
🏆 Many people win more support this way.
🚫 But the agency often does not follow the ART's orders.
🔁 From July, people can only get another assessment with the same tool.
🔒 This makes it hard to change a funding decision.

⏭️ More Changes Coming

📉 The government wants to slow down the cost of the NDIS.
📈 They want costs to only grow by 5 or 6 percent each year.
👶 They are moving some children with mild autism to a new program called Thriving Kids.
🚀 This program starts in July.
🚪 Fewer children will join the main scheme after July 2027.
🔍 The agency is checking more people to see if they can stay in the scheme.
⚖️ About half of these checks end with people not being in the NDIS anymore.

🔮 What Happens Next

🧱 The government is still making new rules.
❓ People do not know all the details yet.
😟 Some people worry about losing support.
🧑‍⚖️ Lawyers and advocates say many changes are happening fast.
