❤️Story continues about Dr Anwar …. ✨He loved the practical and surgical side of medicine✨

While working in general practice, he also noticed a significant gap in skin cancer detection and management. New Zealand’s high burden of skin cancer made this an area where he felt he could make a real difference.

That became the turning point.

He began developing a deeper interest in *skin cancer medicine, dermoscopy and skin cancer surgery*, progressively advancing his knowledge and surgical skills while continuing to work as a GP.

And as his experience in skin grew, so did his interest in another side of skin medicine—*cosmetic medicine.*

The two disciplines may seem very different, but for him they shared something important:

*Skin.*

Understanding the skin. Diagnosing it. Treating it. Protecting it. Improving it.

Over time, skin became a major focus of his medical career.

Today, Dr. Anwar continues to work as a GP, while also specialising in *skin cancer medicine and surgery and cosmetic medicine*.

He still spends two days a week working in general practice—a part of medicine he never wanted to leave behind.

Because for him, being a doctor was never about choosing one title or one speciality.

It has always been about *people.*

From the little boy praying to become a doctor, to the GP who discovered a gap in skin cancer care, to the doctor whose career has evolved around skin health—

the purpose has remained the same:

*Listen. Help. Treat. Make a difference.*

How did Dr Anwar choose medicine as a profession ? *The dream started when he was a child. The journey evolved along the way.*

Long before he knew what speciality he would pursue, Dr. Anwar knew one thing with absolute certainty:

*He wanted to be a doctor.*

From his primary school years, he never really considered another profession. There was no Plan B.

As a little boy, he would pray to Allah to make him a doctor. It wasn’t about money, status or the idea of having a prestigious career.

It was about the feeling of being able to help someone.

He remembers meeting a doctor as a child who appeared happy, fulfilled and successful, while also making a difference to people’s lives. That left a lasting impression on him.

Throughout school, he was completely committed to his goal. He rarely missed a class, never took his studies lightly and consistently worked towards becoming the doctor he had always imagined himself becoming.

And perhaps medicine suited him because *helping people was already part of who he was.*

Even among his friends and family, Anwar has always been the person people turn to for advice. Someone who listens. Someone who tries to find a solution. Someone who genuinely wants to help.

So becoming a GP felt like a natural fit.
