Lovelies, here are 5 ways you can manage menopause.

1. Having a holistic approach - using all of the health and wellbeing modalities available to you to support you. Did you know that they are naturopaths, acupuncturists, nutritionists, physiotherapists who specialise in women’s health, in particular perimenopause and menopause?
2. Find a great GP - advocate for your health! Find a GP who has done further education in menopause specifically. Did you know that GP’s and Gynaecologists are not specifically trained in menopause (I’ve got another post coming on that!)
3. Exercise - move your body. Avoid high intensity and raising cortisol levels. Strength is great, brisk walking is great, Pilates, yoga are great too.
4. Connection - being to connected to others, in particular others going through perimenopause and menopause so you can talk about it.
5. Mindfulness - we often get stuck in doing busy. Not present and that’s when anxiety, the emotions and fear creep in. Notice what you feel. Journal, meditate , breathwork and being in nature (shoes off off on grass or in the ocean or pool) are great ways to practice mindfulness to reduce stress and anxiety.

What are some other ways you have found helpful in managing your perimenopause or menopause?

One of the common signs of perimenopause is irregular periods. The fluctuations in estrogen can mean your period comes less often, or sometimes more often and for some, heavier or lighter.

Everyone woman's experience is different.

Do you track your cycle?

There are some great apps like Flo where you can track your cycle, especially when they are changing. Sometimes it's not until you track your period and noticing other changes in yourself and your body like mood changes, brain fog, that it can help establish if you're going through perimenopause.

Iit can be really empowering to know what is going on through the changes and consider what you might want to do about it. And there are so many options for seeking advice and help!

Hormones will do what they do in our bodies in any environment we're in, that's why we need to normalise the conversation on perimenopause and menopause and for women to speak more about it.
Recently, Imogen Crump, a guest on ABC News Breakfast stopped mid-sentence after experiencing a hot flush live on television.
She spoke about it with authenticity, honesty and a sense of humour.
Imogen spoke openly after about it on her social pages afterwards:
"Do I wish I hadn't had a
On live TV? Yes. But if it's a step toward having public conversations about something that at least half the population will experience in some form or other, then good."
We need to keep having and make it normal to have these conversations with each other because it is reality.

It's interesting that you don't know if you're in Menopause until you've physiologically gone through it.

Menopause is the second stage of three and it's not until you haven't had a period for over 12 months that you're in Menopause, by which time you've gone through it!

Knowing more about the stages of Menopause can help us demystify, navigate and talk about them!

50% of the population are women.

100% of women will experience menopause.

80% of women will experience symptoms at some point. (For the 20% that don't, count your blessings!)

You're not alone! Menopause is a natural phase of a woman's life and yet there is still an element of mystery surrounding it and limited information.

Let's change that and start having conversations, creating community and connection, sharing POV and experiences and put an end to the stigma that is attached to a natural part of women's lives!

It's great to have you here in Pause & Flow 🧡

I'm Lou.

I'm a connector of people and love conversations - Connection is my top value in life.

I love colour, I love flowers, I love people.

I live by the ocean and the beach is my happy, nurturing and healing place.

I am a business and life coach and my passion is my purpose which is to help women flow through life changes and transitions to discover their purpose and live their best lives.

I went through menopause early at 39/40 years, it was a shock and I thought I was too young to be going through it. I'm 48 now. I knew so little about it until I was almost through it. I learnt mostly about it in an appointment with an Endocrinologist who gently shared some hard facts. I was 40 and hadn't birthed a child and as a possibility that ship had sailed.

I was living in Sydney at the time and my career was in senior corporate life. Until I decided that wasn't what I wanted. There was something more and with greater purpose. Within 7 weeks of leaving my job, I had packed up in Sydney and moved to the Gold Coast, one of the best decisions I've made.

For me the weight gain, brain fog, restless sleep, hot flushes and moods weren't fun to navigate and often talking to others was met mostly with awkwardness or uncomfortable silence - people didn't have the resources to talk about it. And in the workplace, the challenge was greater. A hand fan become an essential accessory!

Weight gain rattled my confidence. Moods and brain fog led to questions on self-worth. I wonder, can you relate to this?

Know that you're not alone🤍

I created Pause & Flow to normalise the conversation on peri and menopause for women so they can positively embrace the change and feel supported and connected to themselves and others. Pausing to bring in the flow of life with more joy, fun and freedom! And I'm here for it!

Building a community of women who are connected and supported through their peri & menoP journey is at the big heart of Pause & Flow through information, connection, education, inspiration and love. 🧡

I'm excited to launch Events in early 2024! ✨ Stay tuned!

With love
Lou xx
