For those new to the term neurodiversity affirming or you’re starting to shift to becoming neurodiversity affirming, remember it takes time for change to happen. So start small, don’t stress about the past and when you know better, simply try to do better 🫶

Here are some examples of ways to be more neurodiversity affirming:
- connect with autisitc adults
- listen and validate your child (no matter what you think about the situation! If they’re upset, they have the right to be)
- allow accomodations always
- understand what they like and what they are good at and start there

It’s not easy but our kids deserve it. They deserve a world that sees them for them. That values them for all of the beauty that they hold. All you have to do is start. You can be the change the world needs. One small step at a time 🔥

Remember every child and every person is different so just because it works for someone, it doesn’t mean it will work for someone else. Just because it helps one day, it doesn’t mean it will help the next. It’s a process or trialling and trialling again.

I’m not sure if it gets easier, but you will get better at adjusting and adapting to different days and different scenarios and it will make life that little bit easier for you and/or your little person 💛
