✨ What does an Occupational Therapist actually do?
Hi, I’m Abbey, one of the Occupational Therapists at Stirling Supports.
When people hear “occupational therapy”, they often think it’s only about work or jobs — but in OT, “occupation” means the everyday activities that matter to you.
That might be getting ready in the morning, preparing meals, managing sensory needs, building routines, improving independence at home, accessing the community, or finding safer and easier ways to do the things you want and need to do.
My role is to look at the whole picture — your goals, your environment, your strengths, and the barriers that might be getting in the way. From there, we work together on practical strategies, supports, equipment, or changes that can help everyday life feel more manageable.
OT is not about doing things for someone. It’s about supporting people to build confidence, independence, and choice in the parts of life that matter most to them.
If you’re unsure whether OT could help, our team is always happy to talk through what support might look like.
