Do your first few steps in the morning feel like walking on broken glass?

That sharp, stabbing heel pain when you get out of bed is one of the most common things we treat. And the good news is, it responds really well to the right approach.

Heel pain (often plantar fasciitis or Achilles irritation) is usually a load and movement problem.

That means the solution isn’t just about what’s on your feet, but about how your body is moving, absorbing force, and building resilience.

We take a hands-on MME approach:

šŸ”· Manipulation and mobilisation: freeing up stiff joints in the foot, ankle, and even the calf that are adding strain to your heel.
šŸ”· Targeted exercise: building the strength and flexibility your foot needs to handle everyday demands without pain.
šŸ”· Load management: helping you stay active while giving your tissues the chance to recover

You don’t need to limp through your mornings or wait it out. With the right treatment, most people see real improvement quickly.

Our team is highly experienced in treating heel pain. Contact us today to book your appointment.

This week is Men’s Health Week.

Men’s Health Week is an important reminder that health is about more than just physical wellbeing. It also includes mental health, emotional wellbeing and feeling supported to speak up when something isn’t right.

Many men are more likely to push through pain, ignore symptoms or delay seeking help, including for foot and lower limb pain.

But ongoing discomfort can impact:

šŸ”· Exercise and activity
šŸ”· Daily movement
šŸ”· Knee, hip and back function
šŸ”· Mood, motivation and overall wellbeing

Whether it’s heel pain, sore feet, injuries or mobility concerns, early intervention can make a big difference to recovery and confidence in movement.

Looking after your health isn’t a weakness. It’s an investment in your long-term wellbeing. Don’t put it off or ignore the pain any longer.

When the temperature drops, we naturally move less, sit more and can stiffen up. For your feet and lower limbs, that means tighter calves, stiffer ankles and old ni**les that quietly creep back in.

Winter is actually one of the most common times we see people come in with:

šŸ”¹Heel pain flaring up after reduced activity.
šŸ”¹Knee and ankle stiffness from sitting more and walking less.
šŸ”¹Plantar fasciitis aggravated by cold, tight tissues first thing in the morning.

The fix isn’t just rest but to keep your body moving well.

Our physio team uses a hands-on MME approach to get you moving freely again. We perform:

šŸ”¹Mobilisation of stiff foot and ankle joints.
šŸ”¹Manipulation to restore movement and reduce pain.
šŸ”¹Exercise programming to keep your lower limbs strong and resilient through winter.

Don’t wait for a small ni**le to become a bigger problem. Winter is the perfect time to invest in how your body moves.

Treating plantar fasciitis: the calf-foot connection

Tight calf muscles are one of the major causes of foot pain. When calf mobility is reduced, the plantar fascia absorbs more load with every step.

Over time, this can contribute to irritation, inflammation and persistent heel pain.

That’s why effective treatment often includes calf stretching, joint mobilisation and strength work (an MME approach).

Exercise is often the missing link: hands-on treatment can help to reduce pain, but prescriptive exercise is what can keep it away.

Strength and load rehab of the calf helps to:

šŸ”¹Improve tissue capacity
šŸ”¹Correct movement patterns
šŸ”¹Reduce re-injury risk
šŸ”¹Support long-term foot health

For plantar fasciitis, this often means gradually rebuilding tolerance in the calf, foot and hip muscles.

Does your plantar fasciitis keep coming back?

If your heel pain keeps returning, it’s usually not just a foot problem.

Plantar fasciitis is often linked to reduced ankle mobility, calf muscle tightness, hip and glute weakness, and altered gait mechanics.

Treating only the painful tissue often isn’t enough. We need to address why it’s being overloaded in the first place.

This is where MME comes in to play. MME combines three powerful approaches to treatment:

šŸ”· Mobilisation: restoring joint movement
šŸ”· Manipulation: improving joint mechanics and reducing stiffness
šŸ”· Exercise: strengthening and retraining movement patterns

Together, these techniques help to restore function, reduce pain and to help prevent recurrence.
