Your body isn’t “back to normal” after birth.
It’s healing.
It’s regulating hormones.
It might be producing milk.
It’s running on broken sleep.

And yet… most mums are surviving on cold toast and toddler leftovers.

In Australia, around 9 in 10 women start breastfeeding — but diet quality often declines after birth, right when nutrient demands remain high. Recovery can take months, not weeks.

Postpartum snacks don’t need to be perfect. They need to be:
✔️ Easy
✔️ Protein-rich
✔️ Iron-supportive
✔️ Blood-sugar stabilising
✔️ One-hand friendly

Think:
• Greek yoghurt + berries + nuts
• Boiled eggs + sourdough
• Tinned salmon + crackers
• Peanut butter on toast
• Smoothies with protein + chia
• Trail mix + dark chocolate

This isn’t about weight loss.
It’s about healing.
It’s about mood.
It’s about energy.
It’s about long-term health.

If you’re postpartum, whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, you deserve to be nourished too 💜

Save this for later & send it to a mum who needs it.

✨ Recruitment Now Open: EMPOWER Study ✨

I’m excited to share that recruitment is officially open for my feasibility study: EMPOWER – Eating, Mindset, and Physical Wellness with Endometriosis: The First Year.
This study is part of my PhD research at Griffith University, exploring nutrition care, dietary intake, symptom patterns, and wellbeing during the first year after an endometriosis diagnosis.

🔍 What this study involves:
Participants will be asked to complete a series of online surveys exploring:
• dietary intake
• nutrition care experiences
• symptom patterns
• quality of life and wellbeing

📅 All participation is online, and the initial surveys can be completed at your convenience.

👩‍⚕️ Who can take part?
Anyone aged 15+ with a confirmed diagnosis of endometriosis who received their diagnosis within 3 months of study participation.

💛 Why this matters:
Nutrition is a significant yet under-explored part of endometriosis care. Your experiences will help build the foundation for a future evidence-based, person-centred model of nutrition care for people with endometriosis.

If this sounds like you or someone you know I would love to hear from you!

Hello and happy 2024!

For those are new here, 👋 welcome! My name is Sharnie. I’m an accredited practising dietitian and one of the original women’s health dietitians on the Gold Coast.

I’m also a 30 something year old woman and a new mum, who is juggling life, work, family, and a doctorate degree 😅

Life is messy and there is no such thing as perfect, no matter how hard we try and control things! That’s why I prefer a holistic and realistic approach to the way I work.
Practical and achievable… using diet to treat your symptoms does not have to be complicated!

What I look forward to in 2024?
✅ Seeing my clients achieve their nutrition goals
✅ Helping women feel their happiest and healthiest self
✅ Expanding my scope of work to include infant nutrition for all the Mumma’s I have the privilege of working with throughout their pregnancy, and
✅ Continuing to evolve as a woman, a mother, and a practitioner in this messy thing called life.

Wishing you all a wonderful 2024! 🫶🥳
