There was a time.. long ago.. in a land far away…
When one could remember where you put the car keys and memory was a perfect timeline..
Fog was an environmental phenomena… un@related to brain activity.
And speaking full sentences was the norm.
In fact, there was a time when one could speak one thought and have another forming in your mind at the same time! .. Which now sounds like a phenomenal achievement👏😂
This was the time Before Menopause.. BM👏
I can be a little hard on mySelf, perhaps because health and healing is my THING!
Despite having the knowledge & knowhow, through natural & energy medicine and 1000’s of hours of learning to support myself as I do others, I’m still finding it challenging@.
(Would hate to know how things wouldh’ve been without any support😬😳🤣).
So, I wanted to share some facts about hormones and menopause you might find interesting and maybe enlightening...
At age 30, we have only 10% of our available eggs left. That’s a 90% drop in oestrogen effectively.
At age 40 - only 3% left.
That means a woman will most probably have some peri-menopausal symptoms from about 35 yrs old on average.
True story! That’s when I had my first night sweats!!
The massive drop in Oestrogen affects every organ, gland and system in a woman’s body.
The biggest effect.. INFLAMMATION.
Aches, frozen shoulder, thyroid, adult onset asthma, neurodivergence, diabetes, depression, anxiety, gut and digestive issues, genito-urinary concerns, higher cholesterol, cardiovascular issues, headaches, osteoporosis, dryness, flushes… the list goes on and on…
So far.. I have been able to identify upwards of 80 generalised symptoms and signs of the menopausal state.
It is the most under-researched, un-taught, misunderstood, mis-informed and un-supported time in a woman’s life!
And consider that we make up 50% of the human population and we spend 2 thirds of our lives in Oestrogen decline!
Figure that!
So, what do I do to support myself?
I take life slowly.
I try to remain de-stressed.
I meditate.
I eat an anti-inflammatory diet.
I do 16:8 Intermittent Fasting.
I prioritise restful deep sleep (even 1 glass of wine disturbs my sleep).
I keep my brain engaged.
I walk.
I’m under supervised strength training while frozen shoulder is thawing.
I take my concoction of herbs and supplements.
And most importantly, I am so mindful to always connect back with the tenderness in mySelf. 💗
How is or was your experience with Menopause? How does or did it affect your capacity in everyday life?
