We love sharing yoga with kids and all the wonderful benefits it delivers from strength and flexbility, to emotional regulation and focus and to building confidence and connections!

Managing our emotions is key to good mental health. ☺️✨

Our emotions are our messengers - how well are you listening?👂

They could be telling you to take a break, alerting you to a crossed boundary, asking you to sit with yourself or to break down your plan into smaller steps.

Most importantly they're teaching us to notice an unmet need and as children, this is such an important skill to learn - to notice, to express or speak up about our need and then how to fulfill the need by either learning a new skill or asking for help.

Our body signals are the first cue and that's why building awareness and interoception skills for our children is a key building block for emotional regulation and then, giving them a language to use through building their emotional literacy.

This week in class we've taking time to:

🫶Tune into ourselves with kind curiosity
🧐Notice where we feel emotions in our bodies
🌬Practiced ways to move them on!

3 great tools to help move the energy - in - motion (emotion):

🌬Our breath - try bunny breath for overwhelm, woodchopper breath for anger, finger breathing to calm and regulate.
💃Movement - try putting on your favourite song and have a jump around - move your body forward and back, side to side and twist to wake up your spine.
🧘‍♀️Safe spaces - use physical poses that help our body feel safe like child's pose.

Our kids yoga and wellbeing classes help build children's wellbeing toolkit and provides a regular practice for children so that those tools are in closer reach during periods of dysregulation supporting all the work you do at home.

Bunny Sniffs are a perfect tool to calm down 😮‍💨when our bodies and minds have been worked up!

Bunny Sniffs 🐰🌬

- Sitting back on our heels with knees bent and hands in front like two little paws.
- Wriggle that nose like a bunny them give two short sniffs – hold – then a long exhale.
- Repeat three times.

Breath work can be playful - the way children learn best!! And we always include it as a part of our kids yoga classes.✨
