šæ Extended Side Angle Pose (Utthita Parsvakonasana)
Extended Side Angle invites the body into a balance of strength and spaciousness. The legs ground firmly into the earth while the side body lengthens, creating a sense of support through the lower body and openness through the chest and waist. Breath moves steadily, helping the posture feel expansive rather than effortful.
Physically, this pose strengthens the legs and core while opening the hips, shoulders, and side body. It supports stability, mobility, and postural awareness, encouraging the body to feel both anchored and light.
Energetically, Utthita Parsvakonasana reminds us that we can stay grounded while still reaching and expanding. With mindful breath, the pose becomes a place to explore steadiness and openness at the same time, without forcing or strain.
At Soul Yoga and Retreats, Extended Side Angle is practised with intention and care. We focus on breath led movement, safe alignment, and individual range, allowing each body to explore strength and space in a supported way.
This is yoga that builds resilience while remaining calm, steady, and deeply supportive.
