When the body releases, what else might be asking to be felt?
🌿 Within my Integrative Bodywork Treatment, I use Trigger Point Therapy as one of the techniques to work with areas of physical muscular tension and restriction.
Sometimes, as a trigger point releases, there can be more than a physical response.
A deeper breath
A sudden sense of vulnerability
Frustration
Tears
Joy
Anger
Or simply an unexpected awareness of something that was already present beneath the surface.
🌿 I don't believe we need to assume that a particular muscle holds a particular emotion.
Instead, I become curious about the relationship between the physical experience and the person's emotional response.
Take anger;
For some people, anger is expressed easily. For others, it may have been discouraged, suppressed or turned inward. We can develop unconscious ways of protecting ourselves from emotions that once felt unsafe or unacceptable.
🌿 When the body softens, we may sometimes become more aware of what is happening within us.
This is where the ideas of Carl Jung influence the way I approach my work.
🌿 Jung explored the unconscious and what he called the Shadow—the parts of ourselves that we may have pushed out of conscious awareness because they didn't fit with how we believed we should be.
My role isn't to interpret a client's emotions or tell them what their physical response means.
It is to observe, listen and provide a safe framework for awareness and integration 🤍🙏
What is arising?
What are you noticing?
Can you stay curious about the experience without needing to immediately understand or change it?
Sometimes the body gives us an opportunity to meet something within ourselves that has been overlooked.
Not by forcing a release
Not by searching for a story
But by slowing down enough to listen
The body can become a doorway to awareness
And awareness can be the beginning of integration.
