Hi again! I thought I’d introduce myself again for those who don’t know me well… I’m Nicky 👋🏼

I’m a mum to two teenage boys (actually I’m homeschooling my 15-year-old), married to a firefighter, and living in the northern suburbs of Sydney, Australia.

I’m also a transracial intercountry adoptee. I came to Australia as a baby and grew up in Sydney with my identical twin sister and a white Australian family.

I’m a Master Certified Life Coach and Breathwork Facilitator. I’ve been coaching for over nine years now, and I genuinely love what I do. I added breathwork to my tool belt because I wanted another way to access deeply held emotions, work with the body, and nurture the nervous system — both for myself and the people I work with.
I recently started posting on social media again because I wanted to share more about what I do — and I also want to keep it real.

Truth bomb: the beautiful professional photos I’ve been sharing (taken by my very talented photographer friend Carly Robinson) were taken in 2022 😂

I took a bit of a hiatus from marketing and social media, and I haven’t had the chance to get more recent photos taken yet. A new photoshoot is on the cards for later this year!

And in the spirit of keeping it real… today I had one of my molars removed. 🦷

As an intercountry adoptee, I’ve spent a lot of time exploring the impact of preverbal trauma and the ways our earliest experiences can live on in the body. I’ve also heard plenty of anecdotal stories about adoptees having teeth issues, many of us wear mouth guards for grinding and deal with lifelong teeth issues. 😭 Today it was my turn.

So while I might be posting happy, polished photos from 2022, please know that behind them is a very real and imperfect human living a very real and imperfect life.
I love connecting with people — even though I’m actually an introvert — and I’m always happy to have genuine conversations here.

I don't want to freak you out, but I've been shaking up my 1:1 sessions with something new: HYPNOSIS. The gateway to a different state, and sometimes a different dimension. Wisdom, connection to the other side — to people who have passed on, to the past, to the future, to the part of you that may even be eternal…

I haven't hit my head. I'm just open to what's possible. What I do know is that our mind and body are capable of far more than today's science lets us admit. I feel privileged to witness and participate in this.

When our world becomes too small, we start believing our current circumstances are the only possibilities.

Sometimes our world becomes much smaller than we realise.

Years ago, I worked at the Powerhouse Museum. It wasn't long before my world revolved around that one building. Those were the people I knew, the opportunities I saw, and the future I imagined.

I've noticed this happens in so many areas of life.

A workplace becomes our whole world.
A relationship becomes our whole world.
A friendship group, a town, a career, even a way of thinking can become our whole world.

When that happens, it's easy to believe, "This is all there is."
But it's not.

There is a great big world beyond the one you've become familiar with.
There are people you haven't met.
Jobs you haven't considered.
Communities you haven't found.
Experiences you haven't imagined.

Sometimes remembering that gives us the courage to have difficult conversations, change careers, leave relationships that no longer align with our values, or simply try something new.

Not because we're endlessly searching for something better.

But because we remember we don't have to settle for less than we're worth.
Sometimes the biggest shift isn't changing your world.
It's remembering just how big it really is.

One of the things I love most about my work is that I'm always learning.
Lately, I've been exploring the science of functional breathing, I’ve been doing a breath hold Challenge!

For years I've been fascinated by the relationship between breathing, emotions, the nervous system, and performance. Now I'm diving deeper into the physiology—how the way we breathe can influence carbon dioxide tolerance, oxygen delivery, nasal breathing, and our body's response to stress.

One thing I've found particularly interesting is that breathing more isn't always better.

Functional breathing is often about breathing less—more slowly, more quietly, and more efficiently.

I'm not interested in breathing techniques for the sake of breathing techniques. I'm interested in how they help us show up more fully in our lives.

The breathwork journeys I facilitate are designed to support self-awareness, emotional regulation, nervous system regulation, and personal transformation.

Alongside that, I'm excited to be learning how functional breathing training may also help to:
• improve oxygen delivery throughout the body
• enhance nervous system regulation and resilience to stress
• increase carbon dioxide tolerance, making breathing feel easier under pressure
• strengthen the respiratory muscles and improve breathing efficiency
• improve fatigue resistance, so movement and exercise can feel easier over time

It's fascinating to see how something as simple and automatic as breathing can influence not only our emotional state, but also our physical performance and overall wellbeing. It's no surprise that functional breathing is now being used by many elite athletes around the world.

"I've outgrown the illusion."

I love this phrase because growth isn't always about gaining something new.
Sometimes it's about seeing through something that was never true to begin with.

The illusion might be:
• that we have to earn our worth
• that we're responsible for everyone else's happiness
• that confidence means never feeling fear
• that our past defines our future
• that we're broken and need fixing

As we grow, we don't become someone new—we often remember who we were before the illusion took hold.

Your self-worth sets the ceiling for what you allow yourself to receive. If it can't hold success and abundance, you'll either sabotage them or fail to see the opportunities that lead to them.

Your self-worth sets the ceiling for what you allow yourself to receive.

Your self-worth sets the ceiling for what you allow yourself to receive. If it can't hold success and abundance, you'll either sabotage them or fail to see the opportunities that lead to them.

It's easy to think our results are determined by our circumstances.

Often, they're also influenced by what we believe we're worthy of.

When we don't believe we deserve love, we'll question it.

When we don't believe we deserve success, we'll downplay it.

When we don't believe we deserve abundance, we'll find reasons to stay where we are.

The opportunity may be there all along—but if it doesn't fit our identity, we may not even see it.

Self-worth isn't fixed.

It grows as we challenge old beliefs, keep promises to ourselves, and learn to see ourselves through a kinder, more compassionate lens.

Sometimes the greatest transformation isn't changing your circumstances.
It's expanding your capacity to receive what was already available to you.

Taking action almost always requires us to step outside our comfort zone.

That's where growth happens—but it doesn't have to mean taking giant leaps.
Here are a few ways to set yourself up for success:

✨ Choose a realistic next step. Make it so achievable that you'll actually do it. If you love a challenge, stretch yourself—but keep it realistic.

✨ Know your why. Ask yourself, Why do I want to do this? Your reason is what keeps you going when motivation fades. For example: "I want to improve my health so I have more energy for my family and the things I love."

✨ Make a commitment.
Decide when you'll do it, then honour that commitment to yourself.

✨ Celebrate your wins. Notice what changes—even the small ones. Success builds confidence. Remember, confidence doesn't usually come before action. More often, it grows because you took the action.
