Sometimes behaviour may reflect overwhelm, stress, or unmet emotional needs rather than intentional defiance. Taking a moment to connect, listen, and provide calm support can help individuals feel emotionally safe and more able to receive guidance.

Connection before correction can create space for understanding, regulation, and meaningful support. 💜

Assumptions can quietly limit our relationships.

When we believe we already know what someone is thinking, feeling, or needing, we stop asking questions. We stop making space for discovery, understanding, and growth.

Curiosity keeps relationships healthy. It allows us to learn about the people in our lives as they evolve, rather than relating to who we think they are.

By replacing assumptions with genuine questions, we create stronger connections, deeper trust, and more meaningful conversations.

Healthy relationships grow when we stay curious. 💜

Quiet behaviour does not always mean someone is coping well.

Sometimes, overwhelm can look like withdrawal, shutdown, masking, or staying silent. What appears calm on the outside may still reflect internal stress or emotional overload. 💜

Not all distress looks loud.

Not every behaviour is defiance, and not every moment needs an immediate reaction.

Sometimes, behaviour may reflect overwhelm, frustration, uncertainty, or difficulty expressing emotions safely. Taking a moment to pause and seek understanding can help create more supportive and emotionally safe interactions. 💜

Meltdowns are often misunderstood.

What may appear as “attention-seeking” on the outside can sometimes be a person experiencing overwhelm, sensory stress, or emotions that feel too big to manage in that moment. During these times, the nervous system may be struggling to cope — not trying to cause difficulty.

When we move beyond assumptions and seek to understand what may be happening underneath the behaviour, we create opportunities for more supportive and compassionate responses.

Understanding behaviour starts with recognising that every behaviour may have a reason behind it. 💜

Sometimes the thoughts and emotions we carry can feel heavy when they stay bottled up inside. Writing things down can be one gentle way to process experiences, reflect on feelings, and create space for support and healing over time 💜

Small steps in self-expression can make a meaningful difference.

Since the announcement from the NDIS Minister last month, there has been talk about the changes all across the community (both inside and outside of the NDIS). Most people are concerned about how these changes are going to impact the care that is such an important part of their life.

Team DSC provide an breakdown of what was discussed in the announcement from the minister, and you view what they have to say here: https://teamdsc.com.au/resources/breaking-minister-mark-butler?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=cam...

We know change can be scary, but change can also be an opportunity to learn and adapt to a new 'normal'.

FABIC are here to support every step of the way, supporting NDIS participants to receive quality services with genuine care. 🦋

Sensory overwhelm can affect how someone feels, responds, communicates, or interacts with the world around them. 💜

Sometimes behaviours that appear unexpected on the outside may reflect someone trying to cope internally with too much sensory input at once.
