Carbs before you train.
Protein after you train.
Fruit before and after.
Water all day.
Caffeine when you’re feeling lazy.
It’s really that simple.

You don’t need to meal prep 14 containers of chicken and rice every Sunday to get lean 😂

If your diet is so strict that you can’t go out for lunch with the boys without feeling guilty, you’re probably making this harder than it needs to be.

Eat the foods you enjoy.
Get enough protein.
Keep your calories in check.
And actually stick to it.

Because eating dry, unflavoured beef mince out of a Tupperware while your mates are smashing GYG isn’t exactly the dream 😂

The best diet is the one you can stick to long term.

If you’ve been in a calorie deficit, training hard and your weight loss has stalled, there could be a few reasons why…

NOT TRACKING ACCURATELY

If you’re weighing your food, tracking drinks, cooking oils, sauces, snacks, butter and those random handfuls of lollies, you can skip this one.

You might think you’re in a deficit when you’re actually eating around maintenance.

ACTIVITY LEVELS

Your calorie needs aren’t based only on your workouts.

If you’ve reduced your daily movement or overestimated how active you are when setting your calories, your actual energy expenditure may be lower than expected.

Your overall daily activity matters.

METABOLIC ADAPTATION

The longer you diet and the more weight you lose, the fewer calories your body generally needs.

Part of this is simply because you now weigh less and therefore burn fewer calories. There can also be some metabolic adaptation, where your energy expenditure decreases beyond what we’d expect from the change in body weight alone.

It means the deficit you started with might not be the same deficit you have now.

If fat loss has genuinely stalled, look at your tracking, activity and current calorie needs before making another big change.

And if you want help getting lean without living on chicken and rice, DM me “COACHING”.

A big meal doesn’t mean you woke up 0.5kg fatter 😂

The scales measure everything in your body - food, water, carbs, sodium, waste, etc.

So yes, you might weigh more the morning after smashing a pizza. That doesn’t mean you gained 500g of body fat overnight.

Fat gain happens from a consistent calorie surplus over time, not from one meal.

Don’t let a temporary jump on the scales make you feel like you’ve ruined your progress.

Get back to your normal routine and keep going.
