While we often talk about the practical changes that come with the kids growing up, becoming more independent, and leaving home, we don't often talk about the emotional shift that comes with it.
When you've spent years focused on everyone else's needs, having space again can feel strange. Sometimes that space brings relief. Sometimes it brings grief. Sometimes it leaves you wondering who, and what, am I?
The image that keeps coming to mind is a garden between seasons.
After a harvest, the soil isn't expected to produce something new straight away. It needs time to rest and recover. It needs nourishment. Care. Space.
I think we're a bit like that too.
This stage of life isn't always about rushing off to find a new purpose or reinvent yourself overnight. Sometimes it's about slowing down long enough to hear yourself again.
That's a big part of the work I do in my kinesiology sessions.
Creating a space where you can exhale. Where your nervous system can settle. Where some of the emotional weight you've been carrying can finally be put down.
A space to reconnect with yourself as a woman, not just as a mum.
