Better Posture Starts with Awareness
How much time do you spend looking down each day?

Phones, computers, driving, gardening, reading—it all adds up.

Poor posture isn't just about how you sit or stand. Over time, it can contribute to neck pain, headaches, shoulder tension, and back discomfort.

The goal isn't perfect posture—it's helping your body move efficiently and reducing unnecessary stress on your spine.

Small changes today can make a big difference to how you feel tomorrow.

If you're noticing stiffness or tension, Dr Jo is here to help.

Did you know there is a Virtual Emergency Care Service (VECS) in Queensland?

Open from 8am to 10pm every day, VECS is a free Queensland Health service for children and adults across Queensland.

VECS can help if you are sick or injured and need to see someone quickly, but it’s not life-threatening. This means you have an alternative to physically visiting an emergency department.

VECS is staffed by real doctors and nurses who can treat a range of emergency conditions virtually such as:

✅acute respiratory illnesses
✅allergic reactions
✅pain
✅infections
✅minor burns
✅children who have a fever
✅gastroenteritis
✅sporting injuries

The VECS team will triage your concern and, if appropriate, place you in a queue to see the Emergency Doctor for a telehealth consultation.

VECS can provide advice, treatment, e-scripts, pathology requests and referrals.

To access VECS, use the Healthdirect Symptom Checker (https://loom.ly/1vhWx7U) or Service Finder (https://loom.ly/8rik1HI) to determine the most appropriate care option.

Remember, in a serious medical emergency, you should always call Triple Zero (000).

🚨 It's important to know about Australia's new emergency alert system, AusAlert.

AusAlert is a new national emergency warning system that can send urgent safety messages directly to compatible mobile phones, including alerts that may bypass silent and "Do Not Disturb" settings.

If you feel unsafe or are concerned about your personal safety, including in situations of domestic and family violence, it’s important to consider how emergency alerts may affect you and take steps that support your safety.

A national test of the system is scheduled for 2pm (AEST) on 27 July 2026, following community trials across Australia, including in Queensland.

📱 Be aware that Critical Alerts may sound even if your phone is on silent.
📱 Critical Alerts won't sound on Aeroplane mode or a device that is switched off.
📱 Because Critical Alerts cannot activate on a device that is switched off, if it is safe to do so, consider turning off a device before a scheduled test and only turning it back on once the test period has ended.

AusAlert is designed to help keep communities safe during emergencies, disasters and other nationally significant events.

The Connection Between Stress and Pain

Did you know that stress doesn't just affect your mind—it can affect your body too?

When we're stressed, our muscles tend to tighten, our posture can suffer, and our nervous system stays on high alert. Over time, this can contribute to tension headaches, neck pain, back pain, and general aches and discomfort.

While we can't always eliminate stress from our lives, we can support our bodies through healthy habits such as regular movement, quality sleep, relaxation, and looking after our spinal health.

If you've been feeling more tension or discomfort lately, it may be worth considering whether stress is playing a role. Taking care of your body is an important part of managing life's challenges and helping you feel your best.

Phone 0493 639 925 for an appointment! Open 7 days a week from 7.30am to 7pm at 17 Moffatt Street, Goondiwindi 4390.
