When your body stays in survival mode too long, it learns to stay alert instead of settled.

Most people don't realise humming is actually a simple way to check in with your body.

When you hum, you create gentle vibrations through your throat, chest, face and head. For many people, this can help the body shift out of tension and into a calmer state.

Try this:

Hum for 10 seconds.

Then ask yourself:
✨ Did it feel easy?
✨ Did your voice feel shaky?
✨ Did you want to stop quickly?
✨ Did you feel a little calmer afterwards?

Your response can tell you a lot about how much stress your body may be carrying right now.

The good news is that there are simple ways to help your body feel safer and more settled.

🌼 A reminder we all need sometimes 🌼

I’ve seen this so many times through working with people under stress and emotional overwhelm:
people often respond to you based on the stress, pressure, and emotional load they’re carrying… not always because of you.

When someone reacts negatively, it’s easy to immediately think:
“Did I do something wrong?”
“Am I too much?”
“Why don’t they like me?”

And before long, the mind spirals into self-doubt and overthinking.

But the truth is, someone going through burnout, grief, anxiety, pressure, exhaustion, or emotional stress will often respond very differently than someone who feels calm, supported, and emotionally safe.

Stress changes the nervous system.
It changes patience, communication, emotions, and reactions.

A dysregulated body can react from survival mode instead of calm awareness.

That doesn’t excuse unhealthy behaviour,
but it can help us stop carrying everything as proof that we are the problem.

Not every reaction is a reflection of your worth 🩵

The more supported and regulated we become internally, the less personally we tend to take everything externally.

💌 I’ll send you my free guide with simple ways to help your body soften and settle. See link below...

Can you swallow 3 times in a row or how many?

Most people don’t realise this…
but swallowing is linked to how relaxed your body actually feels.

When your body is calm, it produces saliva easily.
Swallowing feels natural, effortless, almost automatic.

But when your body is more alert or under pressure…
your mouth dries up, swallowing feels harder, and it can feel like you have to force it.

I see this all the time.
Women who are holding everything together on the outside…
but their body is still bracing underneath.

Try it now.

Swallow slowly, 3 times in a row.

If it feels dry, stuck, or you have to think about it…
that’s your body telling you it hasn’t fully softened yet.

This isn’t something you fix by “calming your mind.”
It’s something your body needs to feel.

It’s not worms… that’s why you can’t keep still. 🤔

For simple ways to feel more settled in your body, follow me 🩵

That restless feeling…
where you sit down and instantly want to get back up again

Where you should be relaxing but something in you won’t let you.

And then the guilt kicks in…
like you’re doing rest “wrong”

That’s not you being bad at switching off.

It’s your body still sitting in a state of alert.

So when you try to be still, it actually feels uncomfortable… even unsafe.

Which is why you
keep moving
keep doing
keep thinking about what you “should” be doing instead

Not because you’re lazy…
but because your body doesn’t know how to settle yet.

And that’s something you can learn.

👇 Tell me this, do you find it hard to just sit and do nothing?

Oiling my hair… but it’s not just about my hair.

This is one of the easiest ways I calm my body at the end of the day.

Slow, repetitive touch
Warmth on the scalp
Gentle pressure through the head

All of that sends a signal to your body:
“you’re safe… you can soften now”

That’s why something this simple can help with:
• feeling wired at night
• tension in your head or jaw
• not being able to fully switch off

It’s not about doing more…
it’s about giving your body the right signals.

Your shoulders might be telling you more than you realise... 🩵

Take a moment and notice where your shoulders are right now.

👉 Relaxed and sitting naturally?

Or...

👉 Lifted, tight, and creeping towards your ears?

Many people carry stress in their shoulders without even noticing.

When your body feels under pressure, it often braces and holds tension here as a form of protection.

The problem is, after a while it starts to feel normal.

But your body was never designed to carry that much tension all day.

The good news?

There are simple ways to help your shoulders soften and your body feel calmer again.

It's the little things...

Most people don’t even realise how much tension they’re holding in their jaw and face.

Clenching. Tightness. Holding your tongue against the roof of your mouth without noticing.

Your body can stay in this constant state of bracing for so long…
that it starts to feel normal.

But tension in the jaw is often a sign your body hasn’t fully switched off.

So before trying to “relax” harder…
start by noticing what your body is already doing.

Drop your tongue.
Soften your jaw.
Let your face unclench.

Small shifts like this can tell your body it’s safe to let go 🩵🌸
