🫁💜 September is Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month 💜🫁

Throughout September, we’re helping raise awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) — a serious lung condition that causes scarring of the lungs and can make something as simple as breathing incredibly difficult.

For those living with PF, everyday activities can become exhausting. It can have a huge impact not only on the person living with the condition, but also on their families, friends and carers.

This month is about raising awareness, increasing understanding and supporting those whose lives are affected by pulmonary fibrosis. 💜

Life gets busy. We spend so much time looking after everyone else, keeping up with responsibilities and pushing through that we can forget to stop and recharge ourselves.

Taking time out isn’t selfish. Sometimes it’s exactly what we need to reset, breathe, relax and find our energy again. 🌸

🎉🩷 THREE YEARS OF RLC HOME SUPPORT! 🩷🎉

Wow… 3 years! 🥹

Three years ago, RLC Home Support started with just me — one person, one big dream, and a whole lot of passion for doing disability support a little differently.

I wanted to create a service where people weren’t treated like a number. Where support was genuinely person-centred, where relationships mattered, and where participants and their families knew the people supporting them actually cared.

Then my sister jumped in to help me a couple of days a week… and little by little, RLC started to grow. 🩷

What began as me doing everything on my own has grown into an incredible team, supporting more participants across our community and continuing to expand into new areas.

There have been long days, late nights, plenty of learning, challenges, tears, laughs, paperwork (SO much paperwork 😂), amazing memories and some very proud moments along the way.

Running a small disability support service isn’t always easy. There is so much that happens behind the scenes that people never see. But then I look back at where we started compared with where we are today, and I think… WOW. We actually did this. 🥹🩷

And while RLC has grown, the heart behind it hasn't changed.

We are still a small, local, family-run service.

We still believe in matching participants with the right support workers, keeping supports consistent, listening to what people actually want, checking that goals are being worked towards, and creating genuine connections.

We don't want to simply turn up and provide a service.

We want people to feel supported, valued, included and heard.

I am incredibly proud of the team RLC has become and so grateful for every participant, family, support coordinator and person who has trusted us, recommended us, supported us or been part of our journey.

And to Team RLC — thank you for bringing your own personalities, hearts and passion into what we do. I couldn't have grown RLC into what it is today without the people standing beside me. 🩷

From one person with an idea three years ago…

to a growing team, more participants, new opportunities and some very exciting things ahead.

Sometimes you just have to stop and realise how lucky you are. 🩷💜

I can finally say that I truly feel like I have the best team around me.

Building RLC Home Support hasn’t always been easy. There have been plenty of challenges, lessons, long days and moments where I’ve wondered how I was going to keep everything moving. But I’ve always known the kind of team I wanted around our participants — people who genuinely care, show up, support one another and understand that this work is about so much more than just doing a shift.

And I finally feel like we have that. 🥹🩷

I’m so proud of the team we have built. Every one of our girls brings something different to RLC — different personalities, strengths, experience and plenty of laughs — but the one thing they all have in common is heart.

They care about our participants. They care about doing a good job. They step up when it matters, help each other out and make RLC what it is.

For the first time in a long time, I feel like I can look around and think, “Yep… this is the team I’ve been trying to build.”

We aren’t perfect, and we’ll always keep learning and growing, but I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else.

To my team — thank you for showing up, for caring, for putting up with me 😂, and for helping me build something that means so much to me.

I finally have my team. And I’m bloody proud of it. 🩷💜

At RLC Home Support, we’re a small, local, family-owned and run team supporting children and adults living with disability across Goulburn NSW and surrounding areas.

We currently have capacity for new participants and would love to welcome some new faces into the RLC family. 💜

RLC Home Support is hiring! 🩷💜

We are looking for a reliable, compassionate and confident Disability Support Worker to join our growing team for an immediate start.

🌟 AFTERNOON & WEEKEND AVAILABILITY IS ESSENTIAL 🌟

This position is best suited to someone who is flexible and genuinely available to work afternoon, evening and weekend shifts. These are key support times for our participants, so this availability is a must.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have, or be willing and eligible to obtain where appropriate:

✔️ NDIS Worker Screening Check
✔️ Working With Children Check
✔️ Current National Police Check
✔️ Current First Aid Certificate
✔️ Current CPR Certificate
✔️ Current unrestricted driver licence
✔️ Reliable, roadworthy vehicle
✔️ Comprehensive vehicle insurance
✔️ Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain
✔️ Previous disability/support experience highly regarded
✔️ Experience supporting people with complex behaviours and/or psychosocial disability highly regarded
✔️ Availability for afternoons and weekends – essential
✔️ Ability to complete accurate shift notes and required documentation
✔️ Good communication skills
✔️ Strong understanding of professional boundaries, privacy and confidentiality
✔️ Ability to follow participant support plans, behaviour support strategies, policies and procedures
✔️ Reliability and a strong work ethic
