👣Why does heavy work help children feel calmer?

Heavy work activities (think pushing, pulling, carrying, climbing, jumping, and lifting) provide deep pressure and proprioceptive input that helps the nervous system feel more organised and regulated.

When children receive this type of sensory input, it can support:
🤩Improved focus and attention
🤩Reduced overwhelm and big emotions
🤩Better body awareness
🤩Increased confidence in movement
🤩A calmer, more regulated state for learning and play

Heavy work doesn’t have to mean structured exercise—it can be simple everyday activities like helping carry groceries, pushing a laundry basket, animal walks, wheelbarrow races, or playground climbing.

Movement gives kids information their bodies and brains are seeking.

🌟 Look at Mr M go! 🌟

Mr M has been absolutely smashing his DMI ramp walking sessions, and we couldn't be prouder of everything he has achieved! 💙

Since starting with Coordinated Kidz, his progress has been incredible. He has gone from sitting independently and doing a little crawling to now trying to pull himself up on furniture at home—a huge milestone on his movement journey! 👏

Every session is filled with determination, hard work, and plenty of encouragement. While we guide and support him, it's Mr M's persistence and willingness to keep trying that is making all the difference.

Watching children gain strength, confidence, and new movement skills is exactly why we love what we do. Every milestone, no matter how big or small, is worth celebrating.

We are so proud of you, Mr M! Keep up the amazing work—we know this is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see all the exciting milestones you'll achieve over the coming months. 💪❤️

Did you know movement can help children improve their focus and attention?

Regular exercise supports brain development by increasing blood flow, improving mood, and helping children regulate their energy levels. Whether it’s running, jumping, climbing, or strength-based activities, movement can make a big difference both in the classroom and at home.

Some benefits of regular physical activity include:
✔️ Improved concentration
✔️ Better listening skills
✔️ Increased confidence
✔️ Enhanced learning and memory
✔️ Reduced restlessness and fatigue

Helping little people reach their movement milestones is what motivates us every single day! 💙🌟

At Coordinated Kidz, there's nothing more rewarding than seeing a child achieve something they couldn't do a few weeks or months ago. Whether it's their first independent sit, taking those exciting first steps, improving their balance, or gaining the confidence to join in with their friends, every milestone is worth celebrating.

Our Exercise Physiologists work with children on goals such as:
⭐ Rolling and crawling
⭐ Sitting independently
⭐ Standing and walking
⭐ Running, jumping and hopping
⭐ Balance and coordination
⭐ Strength and endurance
⭐ Ball skills and hand-eye coordination
⭐ Climbing, playground skills and confidence
⭐ Building independence for everyday activities

We believe therapy should be fun! That's why our sessions are filled with games, obstacle courses, movement challenges, and activities that keep children engaged while they learn and grow. Every session is tailored to each child's individual goals, making therapy both enjoyable and meaningful.

We genuinely love what we do, and it is a privilege to be part of each child's journey. Watching their confidence grow alongside their movement skills is why we come to work every day.

Every step, every smile, and every milestone is something to celebrate. ❤️

At Coordinated Kidz, we are passionate about helping children build the skills they need to move confidently and participate in everyday life. One of the techniques we incorporate into our therapy sessions is Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI).

DMI is a therapeutic approach designed to improve a child's movement, strength, balance, coordination, and motor development. It uses carefully selected exercises that encourage children to develop automatic movement patterns and achieve important developmental milestones. Rather than simply supporting a child through a movement, DMI provides targeted challenges that encourage the brain and body to work together to develop stronger, more efficient movement.

Every DMI session is tailored to the individual child. Our Exercise Physiologists carefully select activities that are appropriate for your child's current abilities while providing just the right amount of challenge to encourage progress.

DMI can assist children to improve:

Head and trunk control
Sitting balance
Rolling and crawling
Standing and walking
Strength and muscle activation
Balance and postural control
Coordination and motor planning
Confidence in movement and play

By providing repeated opportunities to practise functional movement, DMI helps children build the foundations needed for everyday activities.

We celebrate every milestone—whether it's sitting independently for the first time, taking those exciting first steps, or building the confidence to keep up with friends on the playground.

By combining evidence-informed exercise physiology with techniques such as DMI, our team works alongside families to help children become stronger, more confident movers and achieve their full potential.

If you'd like to learn more about whether DMI could benefit your child, we'd love to chat with you and discuss how our Exercise Physiologists can help.

Confidence doesn’t just grow in the classroom — it grows through movement too

When kids build strength, coordination and new skills through exercise, they also build belief in themselves. Whether it’s learning to catch a ball, climbing with confidence or joining in with their peers at sport, every small success helps children feel more capable and confident.

Exercise can support:
⭐ Self-esteem
⭐ Social confidence
⭐ Resilience
⭐ Independence
⭐ Willingness to try new things

At Coordinated Kidz, we love helping kids discover what their bodies CAN do while having fun along the way!

💪 Movement Challenge of the Week: The Plank! 💪

Can your child hold a plank? ⏱️

The plank may look simple, but it's a fantastic whole-body exercise that helps children develop the strength and stability they need for everyday activities, sport, and play.

🌟 Benefits of planks for kids:
✅ Builds core strength
✅ Improves posture and body awareness
✅ Develops shoulder and upper body strength
✅ Strengthens the muscles that support the spine
✅ Improves balance and stability
✅ Enhances coordination and motor control
✅ Helps with everyday movements like climbing, running, and jumping
✅ Builds confidence as children improve their hold time

🎯 This week's challenge:
See how long you can hold a plank with good technique! Remember, quality is more important than time. Keep your body in a straight line, engage your tummy muscles, and don't forget to breathe!

At Coordinated Kidz, we love making movement fun while helping children build the strength and confidence they need to reach their full potential.

👇 Let us know in the comments how long your little champion held their plank! We'd love to celebrate their efforts!
