One of our exceptional Therapy Mares is officially on medical leave after undergoing surgery to finally evict some long-term foot discomfort she’s been carrying around like an unwanted houseguest.
While Rosie is off mastering the art of confined-space living, strategic neighing at anyone and everything and the advanced skill of waiting patiently, its a great reminder to all of us that our “window of tolerance” is never fixed. With support, patience, and a little creativity, we can all learn to adapt and grow our skills in new environments, even the ones we didn’t exactly choose for ourselves.
We’ll keep you posted on Rosie’s progress as she discovers new ways to adapt, build resilience, and expand her window of tolerance in her temporary new environment.
Wishing Rosie a smooth recovery, minimal boredom, and a speedy return to keeping us all on our toes (unlike hers, which are currently under strict management). 😉
The adventures of Rosie
Had a bit of a “stable drama” day today with Rosie undergoing surgery to remove a tumour hiding under her hoof. Safe to say, she attracted more specialists than a Formula 1 pit crew, from the Vet, to the hoof doctor, and even our superstar horse trainer who’s kindly volunteered his stables for Rosie’s recovery camp. Thankfully, everything went smoothly and the results were far kinder than I had prepared myself for.
Now begins the next challenge… convincing Rosie that “box rest” for a couple of months is not actually a human rights violation 🙄🐴. Those who know Rosie will understand this may require miracles, snacks, and possibly reinforced walls 😂😂😂
For those who don’t know her, Rosie is one of LM Therapy’s beautiful equine therapy mares, the proud mum of Penelope, and a mare that holds a very special place in my heart. When it comes to her care, there’s simply no price tag attached.
As always, Matthews Stud has gone above and beyond, providing incredible care not only for Rosie but for all of their livestock and small animals. Days like today are a reminder that with the right people around you, even the scary moments feel manageable. Here’s to healing, patience, and one very grumpy mare learning to enjoy room service for the next few months ❤️ 😂😂
