From 1 October 2026, COVID-19 booster vaccines will only be free for:

🔹 People aged 65 years and over
🔹 First Nations peoples aged 50 years and over
🔹 People aged 18 years and over with severe immunocompromise

COVID-19 vaccination remains important for these groups. In Australia in 2026, COVID-19 has caused more adult hospitalisations and deaths than influenza.

If you won’t be eligible for a free booster after 1 October, you will still be able to purchase a vaccine. If appropriate for you, consider speaking with our pharmacists now about whether a free booster before the program changes is right for you.
