Dr Carla Atkinson PhD - Remedial Massage and Functional Health Your Body Is Always Speaking - I Help You Understand What It’s Saying
Restore your body. Rebalance your system. Reconnect with yourself. You are not broken.

Minerals • Mindset • Energy
💫 Radiate from Within I help mums restore their energy and show up as their best selves, not their stressed selves, enabling them to live the radiant life they envisioned with motherhood, instead of feeling overwhelmed by its challenges. When you lack energy, the thought of self-care feels like another chore on the ever-expanding to-do-list, and you passionately shout s

omething along the lines of “who the F has time for that?!”

But, as Dr Paul Eck says … “When you have energy, being yourself comes naturally. You don’t have to try.”

So, to bring the best of you, not just what’s left of you…

#1 – I help you get your cells generating energy like they were designed to, helping you gather some capacity to consider more of your options. You don’t have to suck it up and accept ‘this is how it is now’. Your mind and body have an imbalance of ingredients, some missing, some in surplus, some a little offline, and they’re affecting how you function. When we can figure out those imbalances and give the body what it needs, physically, mentally, and spiritually
… we’re cruising! That’s exactly what I help you do in my Radiate from Within program. Please visit my website for more info:

Your body doesn’t exist separately from the life you’re asking it to live.

Sometimes the next thing to look at isn’t another supplement, test or protocol.

Sometimes it’s the life around the symptoms 💛

Emotions are energy in motion - let them move and stop always trying to restrain, deny, and avoid them.

It is not helpful and may make you sick.

Flow journal
EFT
Put your emotion into context - watch a sad movie and let yourself cry, punch the pillow etc
Go for a walk, run a bath
Get a hug from your person, child or fur baby
Get support processing them if needed

But let them move!!!

What if we don’t need to step INTO our power?
What if we instead sit back into it?

I had this thought during a meditation this morning and I could almost feel the difference in my body.

When I think about stepping into my power, I imagine forward movement.

Doing something.
Taking action.
Making something happen.

And maybe that’s because I’ve spent a lot of my life believing that if I want to create a big, full life...I need to be doing.

I’m a doer.

There are things I want to experience, achieve, create.
A whole bloody life I want to live.

And I don’t want to lose that part of myself.

But I can also see how constantly leaning forward towards the next thing can become draining.

So this idea of instead sitting back into my power...

Not shrinking back.
Not becoming passive.
But sitting back into myself.

Into the confidence of who I am.
Into trust.
Into the knowing that I don’t have to mentally work out and force every next move.

There’s a very different energy there.

I might even ask the same questions from this space:

What’s the goal?
What do I need to do?
What’s the next step?
How do I make this happen?

But instead of being in my head ‘figuring out’ the answers.

I sit back and listen.

Sometimes an idea comes.
Sometimes there’s an urge to move.
Sometimes the next action becomes incredibly obvious.

And sometimes...nothing needs to happen yet.
That one’s harder for us doers 😂

But I don’t feel creating the life I choose is about continually reaching for the next marker...

I feel it’s more about the way I’m being while I create it.

I still want all of that growth.

I just don’t want to spend my whole life leaning forward towards what’s next.

Maybe power isn’t always something we step into.
Maybe sometimes we sit back into it.

And create from there.

I LOVE understanding myself.

Give me the test. The pattern. The energetic connection. The reason something might be
happening.

Those things have genuinely changed my life.

They’ve given me context where I previously had judgement.

“Of course” instead of “what the f* is wrong with me?”

But I don’t want that understanding to become another cage.

I don’t want to spend my life explaining who I am through my copper, my childhood, my nervous
system, my hormones, ADHD, or anything else.

I want those things to help me understand where I am and then give me more choice about where I go next.

Sometimes something absolutely needs more attention.

Support your body.
Investigate the recurring symptom.
Feel the thing you haven’t allowed yourself to feel.
Get help when you need it.

Understanding yourself is valuable.

But understanding is supposed to increase your agency, not become the excuse for why you can’t change.

Perhaps there comes a point where the most healing thing you can do...
is stop looking backwards and choose to create with all that you are, right here.

One of the reasons I love having access to so much health information is also one of the reasons I think we need to be careful with it.

We can Google a symptom and have a supplement in our cart five minutes later.

We can ask AI.
Listen to a podcast.
Read our own blood results.

And I think being informed about your own health is a really good thing.

But there’s a difference between having access to information and knowing what information is relevant to you.

And you can only ask questions about the things you know to ask about.

That’s why I don’t want this post to make you scared of supplements or worried you’re doing something wrong.

Quite the opposite.

I want you to understand why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Sometimes that means food first.

Sometimes it means targeted supplementation.

Sometimes it means looking at another piece of the picture before doing either.

And sometimes it means deciding you don’t need to spend your money on any more bottles.

More information isn’t always the answer.

Sometimes we need more context.

Kids are bloody good mirrors.

They have an incredible ability to find the parts of us that are still tender, reactive, controlling, impatient or desperate to be heard.

Sometimes we’re parenting them while simultaneously bumping up against pieces of our own childhood.

And in that sense, I do think there can be an element of reparenting ourselves while we parent them.

But I also think we can take this too far.

Not every time your child pees you off is a ✨trigger to heal✨.

Sometimes you’re depleted.

Sometimes you’ve had fourteen demands thrown at you simultaneously and your brain has had enough.

Sometimes you could have handled something better.

And sometimes your kid has been asked seventeen times to stop doing something, has looked you directly in the eye and done it for the eighteenth time 😤

They’re human. We’re human.

Our children need warmth, connection and safety.

They also need boundaries. They need to learn that their behaviour affects other people. And they’re going to experience us being frustrated, disappointed and imperfect sometimes.

So perhaps the work isn’t analysing every moment we lose our patience.

It’s having enough awareness - and enough grace - to ask:

Is there something here I genuinely need support with?

Is this a pattern I keep repeating?

Is my capacity consistently too low?

Is this touching something in me that deserves attention?

Do I need to repair something with my child?

Or…

am I actually being incredibly hard on myself for being a human raising other little humans?

Not everything needs fixing.

But the things that keep hurting us, affecting our relationships or taking us away from how we want to live?

Those are probably worth getting curious about 💛

“Listen to your body” sounds like such simple advice.

And I believe deeply in learning to do that.

But listening to your body doesn’t necessarily mean doing whatever it currently feels like doing.

Sometimes it means getting curious about why it’s communicating what it is.

Because:

I’m not hungry in the morning.

I need coffee before I can function.

I always crave something sweet at 3pm.

Exercise makes me feel amazing.

I’m never tired until I finally stop at night.

I’ve always been like this.

They’re all useful observations.

But they’re information, not instructions.

Sometimes your body’s message is:

Please stop overriding me.

And sometimes it’s showing you a pattern that might be worth gently challenging and seeing what happens.

That’s where I think we’ve lost some nuance in health.

We bounce between:

“Follow the rules.”

and:

“Just listen to your body.”

When sometimes the most useful place is somewhere in between.

Listen.

Get curious.

Understand the context.

Try something that makes sense.

See what changes.

You don’t have to force down a huge breakfast because someone told you women should eat within an hour of waking.

And you don’t have to turn “I’m not hungry” into “therefore fasting is best for me.”

Maybe you simply try something small.

Then notice your energy.

Your hunger.

Your cravings.

Your mood.

Your afternoon.

Your sleep.

Your body gives you information.

The more you learn how to interpret it in context, the less you need another person on the internet telling you which rule to follow.

18/08/2026

I don’t want to make my life smaller so I have enough energy to cope with it.

I want to feel well enough to live more of it.

And I think that’s an important distinction.

Because when you’re tired, overwhelmed, irritable or running on very little capacity, you naturally start accommodating it.

You don’t book the concert because you’ll be wrecked the next day.

You say no to dinner because another night out feels like too much.

You sit on the bench while the kids play because you genuinely don’t have it in you to run around.

You stop initiating getting jiggy with hubby.

You don’t start the project you’ve been thinking about because you can barely keep up with what you’ve already got.

You spend Sunday trying to recover enough to do Monday again.

And slowly, without necessarily realising it, your life starts organising itself around how you feel.

That’s why when a woman tells me she wants more energy, I’m interested in what she wants the energy for.

Because nobody really wants “optimal energy”.

She wants to say yes without immediately calculating the cost.

She wants to have something left when she finishes work.

She wants to be interested in her husband.

She wants to play with her kids.

She wants to create something.

Travel.

Go out.

Have ideas again.

She wants to enjoy an ordinary Tuesday rather than continually waiting for the weekend, the holiday, the quieter month, the next season of life.

Feeling better isn’t the destination.

It’s what feeling better gives you access to.

And that’s the part I care about.

The problem isn’t that there isn’t enough health information available.

It’s that information without context doesn’t tell you what matters for you.

Because “eat more carbs” and “eat fewer carbs” could both be perfectly reasonable advice.

For different women.

Or even for the same woman at different points in her life.

That’s the bit we lose when health gets reduced to universal rules.

What are you actually experiencing?

What are you trying to achieve?

What does your physiology tell us?

Are you eating enough for what you’re asking your body to do?

How are you sleeping?

How much are you training?

What else are you taking?

What demands are you carrying?

What have you already tried?

And what actually changed when you did?

That’s what I mean by connecting the dots.

Not analysing every symptom until we’ve found 47 things that apparently need fixing.

It’s stepping back far enough to see the whole picture and asking:

Of everything we could focus on here, what actually matters?

Maybe something needs investigating.

Maybe something needs replenishing.

Maybe the way you’re eating or training needs adjusting.

Maybe there’s something in the way you’re living that your body keeps asking you to pay attention to.

And sometimes we might discover you’re already doing plenty and there’s nothing else we need to add.

Because the goal isn’t to know everything about your health.

It’s to have enough understanding to make a confident choice about what makes sense for you.

13/08/2026

Sometimes you know exactly how you want to respond.

You just don’t have access to that version of yourself in the moment.

And that’s what I mean by capacity.

Because your ability to stay patient when the kids are fighting isn’t only determined by how much work you’ve done on yourself or how many parenting strategies you know.

It can be influenced by whether you’ve eaten enough today.

How well you slept last night.

Where you are in your cycle.

Whether your body has the nutrients and resources it needs.

How much noise and stimulation you’ve already processed.

The mental load you’re carrying.

Whether you’ve had five minutes where nobody needed something from you.

The conversation you’re still replaying in your head.

The pressure you’re putting on yourself to get everything done.

How supported you feel.

And yes, the patterns, beliefs and automatic responses you’ve developed over a lifetime matter too.

It all comes into the room with you.

That’s why I don’t love reducing these moments to:

I need to regulate my nervous system.

Or:

I need to work on my reactions.

Maybe.

But I want to know why your capacity is lower in the first place.

Because if we only work on how you respond, we can miss everything that’s making that response so bloody hard to access.

And that’s where context changes the conversation.

Instead of:

Why can’t I handle this better?

We can start asking:

What is making this harder for me right now — and what actually needs my attention?

Sometimes that answer is physical.

Sometimes emotional.

Sometimes practical.

Sometimes it’s the way you’re thinking.

Often it’s a combination.

And suddenly you’re not trying to become a “better mum”.

You’re supporting the woman who is living the “better mum” life already 💛
