Superman Day at Mulleraterong… and what a SUPER day it was! 🦸‍♀️ 🦸

Today the Centre was taken over by the most magnificent collection of superheroes - capes, masks, costumes and all - as our participants and staff suited up as their favourite heroes for a legendary day.

First up, the Kryptonite Hunt! Green Kryptonite rocks were hidden all through the garden and our heroes fanned out to track them all down. Jesse came out on top as our Kryptonite Hunt champion - well done Jesse! Aid course, everyone walked away with a well-deserved chocolate prize. 🍫 (Even superheroes need fuel!)

Then it was time for our Superman Photo Booth, before Francis took out the colouring in competition, winning the coveted Superman mug and socks prize. ☕🧦

And then things got really exciting with a Captain America Axe Throwing Competition that brought out the competitive spirit in everyone! 🪓💥

A very special shoutout to Jessica, whose amazing mum made her superhero t-shirt especially for the day, how incredible is that?! 🥹

And our best dressed? The legendary Jamie among participants, and the fabulous Bonnie and Chelsea taking out best dressed staff. You all nailed it. 👏

To every participant and staff member who dressed up, joined in and brought their superhero energy today, you are the real heroes around here. You always have been. 🧡

Watch out for more photos over the weekend! 📸

Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚲
And what better way to celebrate than with the most enthusiastic bunch of riders you’ll ever see!

At Mulleraterong, bike riding is so much more than just pedalling from A to B, it’s adventure, fresh air, freedom and fun all rolled into one.

Our bike riding program takes participants out into the beautiful National Parks and reserves right here in Hamilton, exploring the roads and tracks our own backyard has to offer.

One of the things we love most about this program is that it truly is for everyone.

Every ride is designed around individual skills and abilities, so whether you’re just finding your wheels or you’ve been riding for years, there is a challenge waiting for you, and a whole lot of reward on the other side of it.

Beyond the physical benefits (of which there are plenty!), bike riding gets our participants out and moving through their community, breathing in the outdoors and experiencing the kind of freedom that comes from powering yourself forward under your own steam. 💨

Scroll through and check out our riders in action and Happy World Bicycle Day to cyclists everywhere.

Keep on riding! 🌍🧡

May has been a delicious one at Mulleraterong 🍽️

This month our participants headed out for not one, but two dinner outings as part of our Community Connections program, this month visiting Alexandra House Sports Club and The Cally Hamilton, two of Hamilton's much-loved local venues.

And while the food was absolutely fantastic, the evenings were about more than just a good meal. These dinners are a chance for our participants to get out into their community, enjoy a relaxed social setting, and practise some really important everyday skills - reading a menu and ordering their own food, handling money and navigating a restaurant experience with growing confidence and independence.

Every outing is a chance to grow, connect and feel like a valued part of the community. Because that's exactly what our participants are. 🧡

Hamilton's hospitality scene - you have been wonderful to us this month. Thank you for always making our crew feel so welcome.

What a morning! ☕

Last week our participants and staff were treated to the most wonderful time at the Biggest Morning Tea, hosted by the lovely people at Baimbridge College. It was such a good spread! 🫖🍰

There was delicious food and beautiful live music by Charlotte Dahl, and the whole event was warm, welcoming and so much fun. Our participants had a great time.

The Biggest Morning Tea is a special event, not only does it bring people together over a cuppa and great company, but every dollar raised goes toward Cancer Council Australia's vital research and support services. A cause that touches so many.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to Baimbridge College for not only putting on such a wonderful event, but for welcoming our Mulleraterong crew with such warmth and inclusivity. Events like this mean so much, for our participants to be out in the community, connecting with locals and feeling right at home is exactly what it's all about. 🧡

Happy International Museum Day! 🌋

To mark the occasion, our participants and staff headed out to the incredible Volcanoes Discovery Centre in Penshurst and had a great adventure!

Nestled right in the heart of the third largest volcanic plain on earth, the Volcanoes Discovery Centre is unlike anything else in the region. Our group got to explore stunning displays on volcanic activity across Western Victoria, get hands-on with real volcanic rocks, and watch the raw, awesome power of volcanoes brought to life right before their eyes on the big screen. 🔥

Getting out into our local community, exploring, learning and experiencing new things together is something we love doing at Mulleraterong. 🧡

A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteer guides at the Centre for making our group feel so welcome. If you haven't visited yet, we recommend - it is right on our doorstep and genuinely extraordinary!

We are so grateful to Southern Grampians Shire Council for this beautiful recognition of our participants, our programs and the amazing local businesses who make it all possible.

Seeing our participants out in the community - contributing, connecting and thriving - is exactly what Mulleraterong is all about. And the businesses of Hamilton who welcome them with open arms? You are the heart of this town.

We've been part of this community for over 70 years, and posts like this remind us just how fortunate we are to call the Southern Grampians home. Thank you for seeing us, and for celebrating every person who makes this place so special.

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝🍯

Did you know that bees are responsible for pollinating around one third of the food we eat? Or that a single honeybee will visit up to 1,500 flowers just to produce one teaspoon of honey? These tiny, tireless workers are among the most important creatures on our planet, and today we're taking a moment to give them the appreciation they truly deserve.

Because we have our very own connection to the wonderful world of bees right here in the Mulleraterong family! 🧡

Evan is no stranger to the hive. His dad Fraser - an experienced apiarist - runs McKenzie's Pure Honey out of Penshurst alongside Evan's mum Rene, and Evan is very much part of the operation. Whether he's travelling with Fraser up to northern Victoria to tend to their bees, or proudly selling jars of that gorgeous golden honey at local markets, Evan brings the same energy and dedication to beekeeping that he brings to everything he does.

It's really beautiful the way Evan gets to contribute so meaningfully alongside his family, connecting with his community and sharing something special they have built together.

If you haven't already tried McKenzie's Pure Honey, keep an eye out for Evan and Fraser at your next local market, and make sure you grab a jar! We can vouch, it's worth every drop.
