Imaginative play is a fun and important part of being a kid! There is no right way to play and it looks different for every child.

Imaginative play promotes problem solving, flexible thinking, encourages empathy and social navigation and develops our ability to tell stories. Most importantly, it is a great time! It may look like pretending a baby doll is alive, that a stick is a sword, sorting toys by colour, lining toys up or even cows visiting a fairy land.....

Joining your child in play and delighting in however they are playing is a great way to build trust and deepen your connection with your child!

With the school holidays approaching, it can be a great time to look at doing an OT Intensive. But what is that❓

An intensive OT block can look like longer, or more frequent sessions to work on a specific goal. Basically intensive OT is high frequency over a short duration (1-2 weeks). Your OT will work with you find the right schedule for your child according to their needs and goals. This often look like sessions each day or every other day within a week, with sessions ranging from 45 minutes to 2 hours.

This focused evidence based approach is designed to provide your child with consistent opportunities to work on targeted goals It can be a great way to get a skill boost without worrying about missing school or the fatigue that a before/ after school appointment can bring.
