Spring brings warmer weather, flowers and plenty of pollenโ€”but allergic reactions can sometimes become serious very quickly.

๐ƒ๐ข๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ?
Anaphylaxis can happen suddenly, even if previous allergic reactions were mild.

๐Ÿšจ Signs of anaphylaxis can include:

Difficulty or noisy breathing
Swelling of the tongue
Swelling or tightness in the throat
Wheezing or persistent coughing
Difficulty talking or a hoarse voice
Dizziness, collapse or becoming pale and floppy in young children

If you suspect ๐š๐ง๐š๐ฉ๐ก๐ฒ๐ฅ๐š๐ฑ๐ข๐ฌ, give adrenaline promptly and
๐œ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ.

๐ŸŒฟ This spring, make sure your workplace, school or sporting club has current action plans, accessible adrenaline devices and staff who feel confident responding to an emergency.

๐Ÿ’™ Know the signs. Be prepared. Act quickly.

In an anaphylaxis emergency, there isn't time to read the instructions. Knowing how to use a Jextยฎ adrenaline injector before an emergency can help you respond quickly and confidently.

How to use a Jextยฎ:

1๏ธโƒฃ Remove the yellow safety cap.
2๏ธโƒฃ Place the black tip firmly against the outer mid-thigh (it can be given through clothing).
3๏ธโƒฃ Push until you hear a click and hold for 3 seconds.

๐Ÿšจ Then:
๐Ÿ“ž Call 000 immediately.
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Keep the person lying flat if possible (or allow them to sit if they are struggling to breathe).
๐Ÿ‘€ Monitor their breathing and stay with them until the ambulance arrives.

โš ๏ธ Remember, Jextยฎ, EpiPenยฎ, and Anapenยฎ all work differently, so it's important to know the device available in your home, workplace, or school.

Being familiar with your adrenaline injector before an emergency could make all the difference when every second counts.

Adrenaline is the first-line treatment for anaphylaxis, and new options like neffyยฎ, a needle-free nasal spray, are becoming available in some countries.

No matter which device is used, the emergency response remains the same.

How to use neffyยฎ:

1๏ธโƒฃ Hold the device as shown โ€“ do not test spray.
2๏ธโƒฃ Place the nozzle into one nostril until your fingers touch the nose.
3๏ธโƒฃ Press the plunger firmly to deliver the full dose.

๐Ÿšจ After giving adrenaline:
๐Ÿ“ž Call 000 immediately.
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Keep the person lying flat if possible (or allow them to sit if they are struggling to breathe).
๐Ÿ‘€ Monitor their breathing and stay with them until emergency services arrive.

๐Ÿ’™ Whether it's EpiPenยฎ, Anapenยฎ, Jextยฎ, or neffyยฎ, the most important thing is recognising anaphylaxis early and acting without delay.

Knowledge saves lives. Confidence saves lives.

If someone is experiencing anaphylaxis, don't waitโ€”give adrenaline immediately.

Using an Anapenยฎ:

1๏ธโƒฃ Remove the black needle shield.

2๏ธโƒฃ Pull off the grey safety cap from the red firing button.

3๏ธโƒฃ Place the black tip against the outer mid-thigh at a 90ยฐ angle (it can be given through clothing if necessary).

5๏ธโƒฃ Hold the device in place for 3 seconds, then remove it.

6๏ธโƒฃ Massage the injection site for 10 seconds.

๐Ÿšจ After giving adrenaline:
๐Ÿ“ž Call 000 immediately.
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Keep the person lying flat if possible (or allow them to sit if they're struggling to breathe).
๐Ÿ‘€ Monitor their breathing and be prepared to give a second dose if symptoms persist or return after 5 minutes, if another prescribed injector is available.

โš ๏ธ Anapenยฎ is single-use only. Give the used injector to the ambulance crew and tell them the time it was administered.
