Pancare Foundation

Pancare Foundation The Pancare Foundation was established to increase survival rates of people affected by pancreatic, liver, biliary, oesophageal and stomach cancers.

The Pancare Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation, established in 2011. With more Australians dying of pancreatic and liver cancer each year than breast or prostate, the Pancare Foundation was established as a way of increasing awareness, research and support for those affected by pancreatic, liver, biliary, oesophageal and stomach cancers. When a patient is diagnosed with cancer it

impacts on the whole family and the community in which they live. The Pancare Foundation not only focuses on expediting scientific progress but also the delivery of programs that are designed to address individual and changing patient needs, from the point of diagnosis through to recovery and bereavement. Together we can take up the challenge; together we can be part of the crusade to find a cure.

Biliary cancer continues to be one of the most complex and often overlooked cancers to navigate, which makes the release of the Biliary Cancer Optimal Care Pathway an important advancement for national cancer care.

Facilitated and published by Pancare Foundation for Cancer Australia, this pathway draws on robust evidence to improve early detection, enhance multidisciplinary care, and ensure palliative care needs are met in a more coordinated and consistent way for those affected.

Oesophageal and upper GI cancers are some of the hardest to detect and treat - often diagnosed late, with devastating outcomes.

“Even at that stage, I didn’t think too much of it. Because I was relatively young, and healthy, and I thought – what could go wrong?” says John.

Because oesophageal cancer affects your digestive system, eating and drinking can become challenging.

The side effects of treatment can make things even harder.

Accessing specialist support from a team that understands oesophageal and upper GI cancers means that we understand what you’re going through, and the most supportive ways to help.

At Pancare, we offer free, specialist support services, thanks to our donors and supporters.
