It’s National Reconciliation Week, and Palliative Care Australia has shared resources that support culturally safe conversations about care and wellbeing, which you can find below:

It’s National Reconciliation Week, and this week Palliative Care Australia is highlighting resources that support culturally safe conversations about care and wellbeing.

Talking about values, preferences and future care can be deeply influenced by culture, identity and community. The 'Working out what's right for you' Discussion Starter Pack has been developed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and their community, and those working with them to support conversations about palliative care in a way that respects cultural priorities, family structures and community contexts.

The resource includes a booklet and cards and is designed to:
💚 provide culturally appropriate prompts for meaningful discussion
💚 support individuals, families and carers to talk about care preferences
💚 enable health professionals to engage respectfully and effectively

Help ensure palliative care conversations are inclusive, culturally responsive and empowering for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

“It’s all I ever wanted to be.” 💙

From playgroup dress-ups to a meaningful career, our own nurse Clare Cameron's journey into nursing started early, inspired by watching her grandmother care for others.

More than 20 years on, that passion hasn’t changed.

As we mark the end of National Palliative Care Week and reflect on , we celebrate nurses like Clare here at Advance Care Planning Australia, whose care, empathy and dedication help people navigate life’s most important decisions.

Because great care isn’t just clinical, it’s human.

💛 Thank you to every nurse making a difference, every day.
