💪 Sensory Saturday: Heavy Work Heroes!
Does your child seek movement or pressure to feel calm? Heavy work gives the body deep “muscle and joint” feedback that helps regulate emotions.
Try these ideas:
🧺 Carrying laundry baskets or shopping bags (lightly filled).
🧱 Building block towers or pushing toy trucks.
🧹 Sweeping, wiping tables, or watering plants.
These activities are great for indoor or outdoor play — and can help children settle after busy mornings. 🌿

🍎 How do I know if my child needs to see a Dietitian?
This is a common question from families especially when mealtimes feel stressful or when your child only eats a small range of foods.
A Paediatric Dietitian can help if your child:
✔️ Eats less than 20 foods
✔️ Refuses entire food groups (fruit/veg/protein)
✔️ Has sensory-based food avoidance (texture, smell, brand-specific foods)
✔️ Gags, becomes upset, or shuts down when trying new foods
✔️ Has low energy, slow growth, constipation, or frequent illnesses
✔️ Takes longer than 30–40 minutes to eat meals
Here’s an important reminder:
Fussy eating is not bad behaviour.
It’s often a sensory or nervous system response.
A Dietitian can help your child feel safe with new foods without pressure, bribing, or force-feeding.
✨ You don’t need a referral.
✨ You don’t need a diagnosis.
✨ You just need a concern.
If mealtimes are stressful, or you’re worried your child isn’t getting enough nutrition, we’re here to support you.
