๐ง โจ PSYCHOSOCIAL HOT TIP โจ๐ง
When our mental health isn't doing so well, personal care and hygiene are often some of the first things to slip.
Most people know to look for signs like a messy house, missed appointments, or not showering. But here's a different tip...
๐ช Shave your legs.
Yep, sounds a little strange, but hear us out.
If shaving your legs is something you normally do when you're feeling well, it can become a simple wellbeing marker for both you and your supports.
๐ It helps identify when things may not be okay.
๐ It can show that you're not just having an "off day" but may have been struggling for a while.
๐ It gives supports a rough timeframe of how long your mental health may have been impacted.
๐ It opens the door for conversations about wellbeing without judgment.
This isn't really about shaving your legs.
It's about recognising the small changes in our routines that can tell us when we need extra support, compassion, and understanding.
Everyone's wellbeing marker is different. For some people it's shaving, for others it's doing their hair, wearing makeup, mowing the lawn, making the bed, or cooking meals.
The important thing is knowing your signs and having people around you who notice them too.
๐ค Small signs can tell a big story.
๐ Check in with yourself.
๐ Check in with each other.
