Challenging behaviours can be one of the most difficult aspects of supporting a child or young person with FASD, but it's important to remember that these behaviours are often a sign of underlying brain differences, not deliberate defiance. β€οΈ
Traditional discipline strategies may not work for individuals with FASD. Instead, understanding the "why" behind behaviours and using supportive, preventative approaches can make a meaningful difference for both the individual and their family.
NOFASD Australia's webpage brings together practical resources, videos, articles and recommended books to help parents, caregivers and professionals better understand and respond to challenging or escalating behaviours.
