šŸŽ‚ Woven is ONE!

Yesterday we celebrated our first birthday the best way we could think of - with families, babies, big kids, cake, sunshine and a lot of catching up. 🧔

And there was something special about standing there looking around at all the people who have become part of Woven over the past year, and those who have supported us from the start.

When Woven began, we wanted to create a different kind of midwifery care. Care with time for conversations. Care where women are listened to, know their options and remain at the centre of their own decisions. Care built on relationships.

A year later, Woven is three midwives, lots of babies, many busy days and nights šŸ˜† and a growing community of families who have trusted us to walk alongside them through some pretty enormous moments.

To everyone who came along yesterday - and to every family who has trusted, supported, recommended or encouraged Woven over our first year - thank you.

We’re very proud of what this little idea has become.

Happy first birthday, Woven. Here’s to year two. šŸŽˆšŸ§”

In The Heart of Midwifery, we meet Aly, Ansie and Lana from Woven Midwifery and learn more about the role education, continuity of care and trusted relationships can play throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.

Together, the Woven team brings more than 50 years of combined experience to Fraser Coast families, with care extending from preconception and pregnancy through to birth, postnatal support, lactation and babywearing education.

What really comes through in their story is a simple belief: when families understand their choices, they can feel more confident making the decisions that are right for them.

If you’re planning a pregnancy, expecting a baby or simply interested in learning more about midwifery care on the Fraser Coast, you’ll find their story in the September edition of Alive Magazine.

What a fabulous day we had at the Amy Thompson Expo in Hervey Bay today! ā™„ļø

So many of our amazing Woven families stopped by to say hello, and no doubt we met a few future Woven families too 🄰

We had every intention of taking lots of photos… but it turns out that’s a little difficult when you’re too busy chatting, answering questions, talking all things pregnancy, birth and babies, and meeting so many lovely people!

A huge thank you to everyone who came by our little Woven space, had a chat, entered our giveaway, or simply stopped to say hello. We loved meeting you.

And thank you to the Amy Thompson team for bringing together such a beautiful collection of local services and families right here on the Fraser Coast.

Our feet are tired, our voices are slightly worse for wear, but our cups are very full. ā™„ļø

If you met us today and have a question you didn’t get a chance to ask, pop it below or send us a message - we’d love to keep the conversation going ā™„ļø

Tonight, Australia's counting everyone...

Meanwhile, babies due today (or maybe last week...or even last month!) are reminding us that the E in EDD stands for Estimated. šŸ˜‰

Wishing everyone waiting for a new arrival a calm night - whether your baby decides tonight is the night or not. šŸ¤

The Wall of Woven Babies šŸ¤Ž

It’s finally up.

For every baby we’ve had the privilege of being present for at birth, whether we were there as their midwife, or beside their family providing support in hospital, we make a little canvas of their footprints at around six weeks old.

One tiny set of feet.
One birth.
One family we’ve had the honour of walking alongside.

And now they finally have a home together on the wall of our clinic.

Every time we look at it, we remember the births behind those footprints - the anticipation, the strength, the quiet moments, the big moments, and the first time those little feet entered the world.

And the best part?

There are already at least five more sets of footprints still to be added in the coming weeks. šŸ¤Ž

The Wall of Woven Babies is going to need to get a whole lot bigger.

World Breastfeeding Week šŸ¤Ž

Breastfeeding is one of the first conversations between a mother and their baby - not with words, but through touch, smell, eye contact, closeness, and comfort.

It’s about so much more than nutrition. It’s a relationship that grows one feed, one cuddle and one moment at a time.

Breastmilk is a remarkable living fluid that changes throughout a feed, day, night and as your baby grows, adapting to meet their changing needs, supporting their development and developing immune system.

And every breastfeeding journey has its own story.

It may come easily, or take time. It may last days, weeks, months or years. It may involve one baby or two, expressing, mixed feeding, donor milk, support from many hands - or look completely different from what was originally imagined.

There is no 'perfect' way - only the way that works best for your family. To every mother who is breastfeeding, we see the dedication, the patience, and the persistence that goes into every feed.

This World Breastfeeding Week, we celebrate the beautiful, exhausting, messy, rewarding and deeply meaningful moments of breastfeeding - and the families navigating them.

We also celebrate the partners, communities, midwives, lactation consultants and advocates who provide the informed, compassionate support that helps breastfeeding families thrive.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week. šŸ¤Ž

Pregnancy care feels different when you’re not starting from scratch at every appointment.

A known midwife means someone who understands your story, your preferences, your worries, your family, and what matters most to you.

At Woven Midwifery, we offer private midwifery care across pregnancy, birth and postnatal life -giving you time, continuity, and personalised support as you prepare for birth and beyond.

Whether you’re trying to conceive, newly pregnant, planning a homebirth, wanting hospital birth support, or looking for postnatal care, we can help you work through your options.
