September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Current Australian guidance recommends discussing PSA testing with your GP from age 50–69, or from age 45 if you are at higher risk. A PSA test is a blood test, but it does not diagnose prostate cancer on its own.

We bulk bill eligible Medicare card holders for standard GP consultations at 71 Main Street, Pialba. Some services may have out-of-pocket costs.

Six of our GPs do skin checks at 71 Main Street, Pialba.

Dr Haseeb Ahmed, Dr Moe Thu and Dr Nadeesh Seneviratne anchor the skin clinic, and Dr Yan Paing Oo, Dr Zin Zin Thant and Dr Lachlan Davis also consult for skin checks. Full body checks use dermoscopy, spots worth watching are photographed and compared over time, and biopsies and excisions happen on site rather than down the highway.

Worth booking if you've never had a check, it's been more than a year, a spot is new or changing, you work or play outdoors, or melanoma runs in your family.

Ask for whichever doctor suits your week, or take the first available skin appointment. GP consults are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Skin surgery and biopsies are a private fee, payable on the day.

Book online at mainstreetmed.com.au or call (07) 4325 4000.

When did you last have a proper skin check?

Dr Haseeb Ahmed has spent more than 15 years in general practice, much of it looking closely at Queensland skin. He's a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, with Skin Cancer College Australasia certificates in primary care and advanced skin cancer medicine, and in skin cancer surgery.

Book him for a full head-to-toe check with dermoscopy, or just that one spot you keep meaning to ask about. Biopsies and minor procedures happen right here at 71 Main Street, Pialba — and men's health is his other focus, so consider this your nudge, blokes.

GP consults are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Skin surgery and biopsies are a private fee, payable on the day.

Dr Moe Thu is one of the familiar faces in the skin clinic at 71 Main Street, and plenty of Fraser Coast families see him for their everyday care too.

He's a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds the Advanced Clinical Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery from the Skin Cancer College Australasia. His week is full skin checks with dermoscopy, digital monitoring of spots worth watching over time, and biopsies, excisions and repairs done on site in Pialba.

He also supervises GP registrars training with the RACGP and ACRRM, part of what makes Main Street an accredited training practice.

New patients and long-standing ones are both welcome. GP consults are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Skin surgery and biopsies are a private fee, payable on the day.

Dr Nadeesh Seneviratne has been looking after skin at 71 Main Street for years, so plenty of you will already know him from the skin clinic.

He's a specialist general practitioner with a Master of Medicine in Skin Cancer Medicine from the University of Queensland, and an accredited skin cancer doctor with the Skin Cancer College Australasia. Day to day that means full skin checks with dermoscopy, digital monitoring of anything worth watching over time, and biopsies and excisions done here in Pialba rather than sending you down the highway.

He also does the ordinary work of general practice — chronic disease, men's health, the everyday appointments that keep a family ticking along.

New patients and long-standing ones are both welcome. GP consults are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Skin surgery and biopsies are a private fee, payable on the day.

The newest machine at Main Street Medical Centre photographs your whole skin surface in about a minute.

OptimaScan 3D mole mapping builds a head-to-toe photographic record of your skin. Your GP compares this year's images with next year's, so a new spot, or a change in one you already had, is easier to see than memory allows.

The simplest way to have it done is with your regular skin check at our Pialba clinic. The skin check is bulk billed for eligible Medicare and Gold DVA card holders, and the scan adds $49. That launch price runs until 31 December 2026, then the standard $99 applies. The scan itself is a private service, not claimable through Medicare.

Had a text asking you to "assign your Medicare benefits" after your last visit? It's genuine. It comes from the same mobile number we send all your appointment reminders and recalls from.

From 1 July, Medicare asks us to record your bulk-billing consent digitally instead of just verbally. So after a bulk-billed appointment, our booking system (AutoMed) texts you a secure link to confirm. The link opens automedsystems.com.au, our booking provider. You enter your date of birth to prove it's you, then tap Accept. That's it.

A few things worth knowing:
• It's not a bill. Your visit is still bulk billed and costs you nothing.
• We'll never ask for payment, bank or card details in that text.
• Tapping Accept simply lets us claim your Medicare rebate directly, the same as always.

If you're ever unsure about a message, don't tap anything. Call us on (07) 4325 4000 and we'll confirm it on the spot.
