đź’— Breast Cancer Awareness Month đź’—
This photo was taken a few months after I finished chemo and radiation in 2021 and I wanted to write her a little note to say,
I want you to know how proud I am of you.
Proud that you checked yourself.
Proud that you listened to your body.
Proud that you didn’t ignore something that didn’t feel right.
Because I often think about how different your life could have been if you hadn’t. 💞
The truth is, I may never have checked myself at all if it wasn’t for a friend who had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Her diagnosis made me think…
Maybe I should check myself too.
And I did.
I will never forget sitting there after my diagnosis and hearing the words from my nurse:
“She has just saved your life.”
Those words have stayed with me ever since.
Because that is the power of awareness.
One woman sharing her story can make another woman stop.
One conversation can make someone check.
One reminder can change everything.
And that is why I will always believe awareness is so powerful. đź’—
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month…
Know yourself. Feel yourself.
Get to know what is normal for you.
Breasts come in all different shapes, sizes and textures, and what is normal for one woman may not be normal for another.
🌸 Know what’s normal for you
🌸 Notice changes
🌸 Don’t ignore something that feels different
🌸 If you notice a change, speak with your Doctor
And please remember awareness isn’t just about finding breast cancer.
It is about knowing your body, listening to yourself and feeling confident enough to speak up.
For every woman who has been diagnosed.
For every woman going through treatment.
For every woman living beyond breast cancer.
For every friend, sister, daughter, mum and loved one supporting her.
And for the woman who might read this today and think…
“Maybe I should check.”
Please do. đź’—
Because you never know what one small moment of awareness might change.
With love,
