Today, our team are supporting Wear White At Work Day in support of those impacted by mental illness and families affected by su***de. 🤍

For many people, mental health challenges are invisible. Sometimes the strongest thing someone can do is simply keep showing up each day.

At Horizon Community Services, we believe no one should feel like they have to face things alone.

For our participants: we are here to provide support, connection, safe spaces, and people who genuinely care.
For our support staff: support matters too, and we want to remind our team that our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is always available whenever needed.
For our community: we continue to advocate for kindness, understanding, inclusion, and conversations that remind people they are seen and valued.

At HCS, we stand together in support of mental health awareness, su***de prevention, and the families and individuals impacted by mental illness.

A simple conversation, a check-in, or a moment of kindness can make more difference than we sometimes realise. 🌷🤍

Some people don’t just need support.
They need a reason to get out of the house again.
A place to feel comfortable.
Something to look forward to during the week.

Lately, we’ve been seeing how the smallest things can make the biggest difference — joining an art class for the first time, reconnecting with community through gaming sessions, or simply having someone there for community access support and everyday outings.

At Horizon Community Services, we currently have immediate capacity available for:

✨ In-home and community access supports
🎨 Art and craft classes
🎮 Gaming and social activities
🏡 SIL and ILO accommodation options currently available
🧘‍♀️ STA Respite Care

Whether someone is looking to build confidence, become more independent, make new connections, or find a place that truly feels like home... We’re here to support that journey in a way that feels genuine, warm, and person-centred.

If you’re a participant, family member, support coordinator, or simply exploring options for someone you care about, feel free to reach out to our team for a friendly chat about current availability and how we may be able to help.

Because support should feel like community, not just a service. 🤗💙

Did you know that a good SIL home is about more than just accommodation? 🏠

For many NDIS participants, having the right environment can help build routine, confidence, independence, and a sense of stability day by day.

At Horizon Community Services, our SIL and ILO supports are focused on creating a space where participants feel safe, supported, and comfortable being themselves — whether that’s learning daily living skills, building healthier routines, joining community activities, or simply enjoying a peaceful home environment.

Sometimes progress starts with small things:
☀️ waking up with structure
🍳 learning to cook meals
🚶 getting out into the community
💬 building trust and connection

A home should feel supportive, not just somewhere to stay.

If you’re looking for supported accommodation, WE HAVE A FEW VACANCIES! Reach out to learn more! 🤗💚

To answer our Community Question of the Week...

In this episode of Mental Health Talks, Joshua shares a simple routine exercise that genuinely helped him during some of the lowest points in his mental health journey.

Sometimes when mental health declines, even the smallest tasks can feel overwhelming. Building routine doesn’t always start with huge changes — sometimes it starts with one simple step, one small task, or one good decision at a time.

Joshua shares 3 simple steps that helped him slowly regain structure in his life. He shares more about rebuilding routine, finding balance, and learning how small consistent habits can slowly create meaningful change over time. 💚

Watch the episode, learn from lived experience, and reach out if you or someone you support needs guidance or support. 🫂

Sharing this beautiful creation made by one of our participants during the craft classes at Artz Academy

Yessterday's session focused on glass decorating, where participants designed their own glass jars complete with bamboo lids and glass straws too. 😍

We love seeing our participants try new things, build confidence, and enjoy creative spaces where they feel welcomed and supported. 💚

Community Question of the Week ❓

When you’re trying to build a healthier routine or fill your time meaningfully… what activities help you most?

Maybe it’s exercise, gaming, art, music, volunteering, cooking, social groups, or simply getting out of the house.

At Horizon Community Services, we believe routines are built through small, consistent activities that help participants feel connected, confident, and motivated in everyday life. 🌷💚

Today, we celebrate the mums, grandmothers, carers, and mother figures in our community who give so much of themselves every single day. 🌷❤️

To the mothers supporting their children through every milestone, appointment, challenge, and achievement — we see your strength, patience, and unconditional love.

At Horizon Community Services, we’re grateful for the care and dedication you bring to your families and our community.

Wishing you a gentle and meaningful Mother’s Day today. 💐

How does mental health really change over time?

Not just the highlights, but the real journey where even small habits feel impossible, and change doesn’t happen overnight.

In our latest article, Mental Health Talks with Joshua: From Chaos to Control, Joshua shares the years of struggle with mental health to building structure, stability, and a life that feels more in control.

At Horizon Community Services, we believe stories like this matter — because they help others feel seen, understood, and supported.

Today, we take a moment to recognise the people behind the work — the ones who show up every day, often quietly, but make a real difference.

To our support workers who bring patience, care, and consistency.
To our admin team who keep everything moving behind the scenes.
To our support coordinators and NDIS professionals who advocate and guide.
And to our participants, who continue to show strength, growth, and resilience in their own journeys.

At Horizon Community Services, this work is more than a job. It’s people supporting people.

Today, we recognise every part of that. 💙💚❤️

Today’s art class was all about slowing down and getting creative. 🤓💚

Our participants explored still life drawing using fabric and fruit — focusing on texture, light, and simple techniques while enjoying the process at their own pace.

More than just art, it’s about taking time, building confidence, and expressing yourself in a safe and relaxed space.
