A common type of client I get, and love getting, are the ones with mysterious illnesses. The challenge of finding the potential source of what's triggering the client is one I really enjoy, and one, us as Mould Testing technicians and Building Biologists specialise in.
This client had no visible mould in her home. yet was having health symptoms triggered in certain areas of her home. With testing and a thorough investigation, I was able to uncover water damage and invisible mould growth which others had not found. She is now on her way to living in a healthier space :) and this is why I do what I do!

“I just want to know if it’s black mould in my home”.
This is one of the most common phrases I get from my mould clients. Let me share why it is fundamentally flawed.
For over year now, I’ve been working with people with mould illness, or people with mould and water-damage concerns at their properties. One topic I get asked a lot is around ‘black mould’.
This term has a lot of misconceptions around it, so I decided to write a blog post about it!

Commonly, black mould is referred to as the toxic mycotoxin producing genus of mould, Stachybotrys. Now, it is important to understand there are other mould which can appear black. Take Aspergillus for example, which we previously noted can appear white or green
