ACIPC The Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control is the peak body for infection preventi

Our members are advocates of infection prevention and control and include nurses, aged care workers, industry professionals, scientists, academics, educators, and policy makers. Our vision is to empower our members to be leaders in infection prevention and control. The College supports our members and IPC in the broader community through our activities, including:

- Education for members and non-members
- Advocacy on the importance of IPC to government and the community
- Collaboration with other health associations and international IPC organisations
- Publishing original research in our journal Infection Disease and Health
- Communication to our members and stakeholders, including our newsletter IPC News
- Representation on national and international panels, committees and working groups
- Our credentialling pathway to strengthen the roles of IPCPs

Pre-conference workshops are open for booking ahead of on the Gold Coast, on Sunday 8 November.

Places are still available in the following workshops:
🔹 Vascular Access: A practical workshop on difficult venous access. It covers vessel health and preservation, ultrasound vessel assessment with hands-on practice, ANTT, and technology-assisted cannulation and blood collection.
🔹 Paediatric SIG Strategic Roadmap: A half-day interactive session for members with an interest in paediatric IPC. You can help shape the strategic priorities and future direction of the ACIPC Paediatric Special Interest Group.
🔹 Design Thinking Masterclass: An in-person introduction to human-centred design thinking for IPC, AMS and One Health. You'll work through the five phases of design thinking and take home a full toolkit of templates developed by SAAFE CRC with UNEP.

October Lunch & Learn: The Evolution of Infection Prevention – Past. Present. Protected.

Join us as Alissia Reid traces the journey of infection prevention, from the early pioneers and the first Infection Control Practitioners to the evidence, systems and practices that underpin the profession today.

The session will explore the diverse and often unseen work of modern IPC practitioners, whose influence now extends well beyond hand hygiene, PPE and outbreak management into areas such as healthcare design and construction, water and air safety, vaccine cold chain management and workforce protection.

Looking ahead, Alissia will consider the challenges facing the next generation of IPCPs, including emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance and sustainability, and how we can protect and strengthen the profession itself through continuing education, credentialling, mentoring and succession planning.

Alissia is an Infection Control Clinical Nurse with Gold Coast Health and an ACIPC Advanced Credentialled Infection Control Professional, with more than 20 years of nursing experience and over 11 years in IPC. She also serves on ACIPC's Membership Engagement Committee.

Today is World Rabies Day. This year's theme, "Stronger Together", highlights that rabies elimination depends on connected action, from communities and veterinary professionals to healthcare workers, governments and global partners.

Dog vaccination, surveillance, education and strong policy all work best as part of one coordinated system. It's a clear example of One Health in action, recognising the links between human, animal and environmental health.

This year’s theme is ‘Generations of Infection Prevention.’

Throughout IPC Week we will be focusing on the main themes: Past, Present, and Protected.

You are warmly invited to attend the first One Health Special Interest Group (OH SIG) meeting on Wednesday, 14 October 2026 at 2:00 PM AEDT. This a free event open to ACIPC members offered online via Microsoft Teams.

✅Event Description
The One Health IPC SIG is committed to promoting collaboration and shared understanding between IPC professionals working across the healthcare continuum (i.e. public health, pre-hospital, community, dental and office-based care). Through exploring the diverse IPC challenges, experiences, and perspectives encountered across different sectors, the SIG seeks to foster stronger partnerships and advance a more connected, One Health approach to infection prevention and control.

This event will provide a collaborative platform for you to connect with colleagues from across sectors, establish meaningful professional networks, and contribute to discussions that will shape the future direction of the SIG. We kindly invite you to join us and help guide the direction of this emerging SIG.
