The Health Revolution - 20 Year Preventive Health Strategy has recently been launch by Health Minister Bridget Archer. The Department of Health, Tasmania has heard from thousands of Tasmanians to inform this strategy and the first Action Plan.

We wanted to share our thanks and gratitude to everyone that put so much into this consultation, in particularly people from all across the state that attended workshops and the Preventive Health Consumer Advisory Group.

As an organisation we are excited to see such a great focus on consumer governance and leadership, in particular building on the important work that has happened across the state where there has been incredible outcomes where decision making has sat in the hands of consumers and communities. As this quote from a Tasmanian says, relationships must be front and centre in prevention, and it is encouraging to see this focus and time given to establish good governance.

Tasmanians want to be a part of a healthier future and we hopeful for the opportunities this brings!

HCT shares an initial assessment on the State and Federal Budgets and the implications for health in Tasmania.

While there are some promising investments, such as in preventive health by the State Government, there is less certainty around State and Federal investments in health having the impact they need to meet the needs of Tasmanians now and into the future.

Prevention starts with relationships, not programs.

At the Preventive Health Conference, we shared what HCT has been learning about what truly drives lasting impact in prevention.
In her keynote address, HCT CEO Ellen MacDonald reflected on our journey working alongside communities, from the Tasman Peninsula to many others across the state through the Health and Wellbeing Networks pilot.

As Tasmania looks ahead to the Health Revolution 20‑Year Preventive Health Strategy, we remain hopeful for a future where communities and consumers have greater influence, and every decision considers the health of Tasmanians now and into the future.

We are grateful to the communities linked below and special thanks to Far South Pride and Jason Andrew Smith for so generously sharing your wisdom and your images.

The 20 Year Preventive Health Strategy Consumer Advisory Group wants to hear from you!

The Consumer Advisory Group was formed in 2025 to support consumer voice into the 20 Year Preventive Health Strategy. It is made up of a diverse group of Tasmanians that care about preventive health and want to ensure that our future in regards to health and staying well meets the needs of all Tasmanians.

They want to hear your thoughts regarding the 'Health Revolution' Exposure Draft. Sharing your thoughts with them will further support consumer and community voice into the Strategy.

You can also have a say directly to the Department of Health, Tasmania.
