These chemicals combine with nitrosating agents to form cancer-causing nitrosamines in cosmetic products. One study found that over 40% of cosmetics containing TEA have been found to be contaminated with nitrosamines. Dr. Samuel Epstein (Professor of Environmental Health at the University of Illinois) says that repeated skin applications of DEA-based detergents resulted in a major increase in the incidence of liver and kidney cancer.

What does no artificial colours or flavours really mean?
It means the colours or flavours are naturally derived, not made in a lab.
Be aware, other ingredients may include flavour enhancers or acidity regulators.
This is why it's important to read the back of the label.
A great place to start is to avoid foods with preservatives.

I remember what it's like to have sensitive gums. Thankfully it's a thing of the past. We switched to the Miessence organic toothpaste in 2015 and all sensitivity has disappeared. I am always mindful of greenwashing when purchasing organic and environmentally friendly products.
It's important to question everything, check ingredients and look for the Australian Certified Organic symbol.

If you have a limited budget for buying organic food, consider buying organic foods that you do not peel or remove the skin.
For example buy organic tomatoes 🍅 and broccoli 🥦 over avocado 🥑 and bananas 🍌
