Teaching has always been a core part of what we do at HHMP.

We’re proud to support the next generation of healthcare professionals by regularly hosting medical and nursing students, GP registrars, allied health students, international doctors, and researchers as part of our team.

Most weeks, patients may meet a trainee observing or participating in care—learning directly in a real clinical environment under supervision.

We’ve welcomed students from universities and institutions including The University of Sydney, Macquarie University, University of Newcastle, Free University of Amsterdam, HocMai University (Vietnam), and Kathmandu University (Nepal), among others.

This commitment to education helps strengthen the future of healthcare—while maintaining high-quality, supervised patient care today.

If you prefer not to have a student present during your appointment, please let our reception team know at the time of booking or arrival, and we will always respect your choice.

Dr Janice Newton recently returned to Delek Hospital in Dharamsala—a hospital established in 1971 to care for thousands of Tibetan refugees, and a place where she first volunteered over 40 years ago.

Now, decades later, she’s back making an impact through medical teaching and helping develop projects focused on peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer, and improving dental services for the local community.

A truly special moment? An audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama - an experience few will ever have.

Medicine, mentorship, and a mission that spans decades 💚

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common virus that can lead to serious illness in certain groups—particularly pregnant women, newborn babies, and older adults such as grandparents.

The RSV season typically runs from April to September, with transmission peaking around June and July. That’s why now is the ideal time to consider vaccination—before the peak period begins.

There are different RSV vaccines available depending on age and risk group, so it’s important to speak with your GP or one of our nurses to understand what’s appropriate for you or your family.

A simple conversation now can help provide important protection in the months ahead.

Today we celebrated Nurse Ashley’s last day before maternity leave as she prepares for a very special new chapter 💚

Ash has been a valued part of the Hunters Hill Medical Practice team for the past 5 years, bringing kindness, compassion and care to both patients and staff every single day. She will be greatly missed around the practice while she prepares to welcome her beautiful baby girl, due in late August.

Thankfully, Ash has promised plenty of visits once bub arrives, and we are already looking forward to meeting the newest little member of the HHMP family and enjoying lots of baby cuddles along the way.

Wishing Ash all the very best for this exciting next chapter - we can’t wait to see her step into motherhood.

Each May, we shine a light on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) - Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

For many Australians, this isn’t just a diagnosis. It’s daily pain, unpredictability, fatigue, and challenges that often go unseen and unspoken.

Too many people are suffering in silence.

Common symptoms can include:
• Persistent diarrhoea
• Abdominal pain and cramping
• Blood in the stool
• Urgency to go to the toilet
• Ongoing fatigue
• Unintentional weight loss
• Bloating and reduced appetite
• Fever during flare-ups
• Anaemia
• Mucus in the stool

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, don’t ignore them. Speak with your GP - early assessment and diagnosis can make a significant difference.

The Hunters Hill Art Exhibition continues to be one of the community events we look forward to every year - and we’re proud to continue sponsoring the People’s Choice Award.

This year was made even more special seeing so many of our talented patients with artworks featured throughout the exhibition, with several recognised amongst the winners. An incredible reflection of the creativity within our local community.

Our team loved spending the evening at Hunters Hill Town Hall surrounded by such outstanding work across painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. And yes… we may have purchased a few pieces ourselves 😉 Keep an eye out for new artworks appearing around our practice soon.

A wonderful celebration of local artists, emerging talent and the long-standing creative spirit of Hunters Hill.

World Family Doctor Day is a chance to recognise the family doctors and primary care teams who quietly hold so much of our healthcare system together.

This year’s theme, “Compassionate Care in a Digital World”, reflects an important balance - embracing the benefits of modern technology and digital tools, while never losing sight of what matters most: Genuine, person-centred care built on trust, listening and connection.

At Hunters Hill Medical Practice, we’re proud to care for our local community through every stage of life. Whether it’s in-person consultations or the use of digital healthcare tools to support continuity of care, our focus remains the same - taking the time to understand each person and provide thoughtful, compassionate care.

To our doctors and primary care teams - here in our community and beyond - thank you for the care, time and commitment you bring to patients every day. 💚

Last night, our team was proud to attend the 2026 Brain Cancer Charity Dinner hosted by The Rotary Club of Hunters Hill, where we had a table in support of this important cause and the incredible work of The Brain Cancer Group.

The evening brought the community together for a meaningful night of fundraising, awareness and support for families affected by brain cancer, and included special guest and Brain Cancer Group Ambassador, Kerrie O’Brien.

We are grateful to support initiatives that help fund vital brain cancer research and provide ongoing support for patients and families impacted by brain cancer. Thank you to everyone involved in making the evening such a success.

Yesterday, we celebrated International Nurses Day. Today, we celebrate International Receptionists Day.

At Hunters Hill Medical Practice, both our nurses and reception team play an incredibly important role in every patient’s experience.

From the first phone call or friendly welcome at reception, to the care, support and reassurance provided throughout appointments, these are the people who help our practice run with compassion, professionalism and kindness every single day.

Our receptionists are often the first point of contact for patients, helping people feel heard, supported and comfortable from the moment they reach out. Our nurses provide essential clinical care, guidance and ongoing support that makes a real difference to patient wellbeing.

We are incredibly grateful for the care, patience and commitment our team brings to the practice each day. Thank you for everything you do for our patients and community 💚
