At Hunters Hill Medical Practice, we’re proud to support student wellbeing through our onsite service at St Joseph’s College Hunters Hill.

During the school term, our doctors attend the infirmary Monday to Friday, providing accessible and timely medical care within the school environment.

It’s a model built on continuity, familiarity, and trust - ensuring students living away from home have consistent access to care when they need it most, without disruption to their school day.

Your safety comes first - always.

If you or someone in your care is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 000 immediately for an ambulance.

Hunters Hill Medical Practice is equipped to provide low-level emergency and triage care for non-life-threatening conditions, including:
• Minor burns
• Cuts and wounds
• Suspected minor fractures

If you need urgent attention, please alert Reception straight away so our medical team can assess you promptly.

However, please note we are not a fully equipped hospital emergency department. Before attending, take a moment to consider whether your condition is life-threatening - if it is, emergency services are the safest first step.

Our GPs see thousands of patients, make complex decisions, and support people through some of life’s most vulnerable moments - but today we pause to ask: who is supporting them?

Today we’re proudly wearing our craziest socks for Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day, standing in solidarity with doctors and healthcare workers everywhere to raise awareness around mental health in medicine and help remove the stigma that still exists.

Behind every consultation, scan, and diagnosis is a human being - one who can experience burnout, anxiety, depression, and exhaustion, often while continuing to care for others without hesitation.

Talking about doctor mental health matters. Supporting healthcare workers matters. And creating a culture where it’s safe to seek help matters.

If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out:

Because those who care for everyone else deserve care too. 🧦

Teaching has always been a core part of what we do at HHMP.

We’re proud to support the next generation of healthcare professionals by regularly hosting medical and nursing students, GP registrars, allied health students, international doctors, and researchers as part of our team.

Most weeks, patients may meet a trainee observing or participating in care—learning directly in a real clinical environment under supervision.

We’ve welcomed students from universities and institutions including The University of Sydney, Macquarie University, University of Newcastle, Free University of Amsterdam, HocMai University (Vietnam), and Kathmandu University (Nepal), among others.

This commitment to education helps strengthen the future of healthcare—while maintaining high-quality, supervised patient care today.

If you prefer not to have a student present during your appointment, please let our reception team know at the time of booking or arrival, and we will always respect your choice.

Dr Janice Newton recently returned to Delek Hospital in Dharamsala—a hospital established in 1971 to care for thousands of Tibetan refugees, and a place where she first volunteered over 40 years ago.

Now, decades later, she’s back making an impact through medical teaching and helping develop projects focused on peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer, and improving dental services for the local community.

A truly special moment? An audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama - an experience few will ever have.

Medicine, mentorship, and a mission that spans decades 💚

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common virus that can lead to serious illness in certain groups—particularly pregnant women, newborn babies, and older adults such as grandparents.

The RSV season typically runs from April to September, with transmission peaking around June and July. That’s why now is the ideal time to consider vaccination—before the peak period begins.

There are different RSV vaccines available depending on age and risk group, so it’s important to speak with your GP or one of our nurses to understand what’s appropriate for you or your family.

A simple conversation now can help provide important protection in the months ahead.
