The Community Garden is looking a treat this week! 🌱
Even though the road is closed, you can still access the garden and pick up some fresh rhubarb, silver beet and parsley. 🥬🌿
A huge shout-out to our tireless volunteers who keep the garden looking so welcoming, fresh and well cared for. 💚
This week they planted around 300 carrots in the long middle bed, along with plenty of beetroot and parsnips. They also added dill, coriander and calendula. 🌱
Bush tomatoes are coming soon, which will look fantastic over summer! 🍅 Radish and more carrot seeds will also be planted soon.
And before long, we’ll have celery, lettuce and spring onions and much more in abundance.
👏 Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for all your hard work. You are helping our community garden grow and bringing a little bit of joy, fresh food and connection to our community.

🥳🍴 That’s a wrap on Chop, Chat & Cook! ❤️
What a wonderful way to finish our 8-week program!
Our final session was full of delicious slices, schnitzels and tasty sauces. With eight recipes on the go, there was plenty of chopping, cooking, tasting and chatting in the kitchen. 😋
A huge thanks & hats off to Di, our Chop, Chat & Cook champion! 👏👩🍳
Over the past four sessions, Di has:
🍴 Coordinated & oversaw more than 30 recipes
🛒 Shopped smartly, budgeted and planned recipes around weekly specials
🥕 Visited Wedderburn Foodshare
👩🍳 Shared her cooking skills and encouraged us to taste as we cook
❤️ Inspired participants to try the recipes at home
It has been fantastic to see people aged 20 to 80 cooking, learning, sharing stories and enjoying good food together.
A big thank you to Caterworx for helping bring this program to life, and to Randall’s Foodworks, The Fat Butcher and Wedderburn Hall for being such wonderful supporters. We certainly filled the kitchen, and the delicious smells filled the hall! 🥰
What started as an off-the-cuff conversation has grown into something really special. We’ve had fun, built confidence, learned new skills and created connections through cooking. ❤️

✨ A fresh new look at IDHS! ✨

The Hostel sitting, dining and hall area, along with the servery, Nursing Home dining and lounge areas, have all had an upgrade to the flooring.

The new flooring has given these spaces a clean, fresh and welcoming feel, and we couldn’t be happier with the result!

A big thank you to Carpet Court Bendigo for the installation and helping bring these spaces back to life.
