🌿CAN YOU HELP US SUPPORT ONE OF OUR OWN?🌿

We’re incredibly proud to share that one of our valued Kura Support team members, Desley Roxby, is currently completing her Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance through the Institute of Allied Health — and she’s now looking for a placement opportunity within the Cassowary Coast region.

Desley has been part of the Kura team for some time, and we can genuinely say that any organisation willing to give her an opportunity would be gaining an incredible placement student.

Desley brings more than 10 years of hands-on experience in the care sector, along with the practical knowledge, compassion and people skills that come from working directly with individuals with diverse and complex support needs.

She is reliable, hardworking, compassionate and genuinely invested in helping people achieve greater independence and quality of life. We’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand the way she builds relationships with the people she supports, and we’re very excited to see her take this next step in her professional development. 💚

Desley is particularly interested in gaining experience alongside:

✨ Physiotherapists
✨ Occupational Therapists
✨ Exercise Physiologists
✨ Speech Pathologists
✨ Community Health teams

Because allied health services can be limited in regional areas, Desley is also hoping to connect with Cairns-based providers, visiting clinicians, mobile allied health services or outreach teams who regularly travel to Innisfail and the wider Cassowary Coast and may have capacity to supervise her during their visiting days.

She is extremely flexible and happy to work around an organisation’s existing schedule — including specific visiting days, fortnightly services or block placements.

At Kura Support, we strongly believe in investing in our people and supporting staff who want to continue developing their skills and knowledge. Desley has already proven herself to be an amazing member of our team, and we would love to see our local allied health community help her take this next step. 🌱

We are delighted to draw your attention to them, as Shona McKay and her partner Matthew have recently made a very generous donation to the Progress Association, and have committed to repeating this each month. Such generosity and community spirit deserves a huge THANK YOU ! Their contribution will go a long way towards covering our fixed expenses such as Rates. We are very grateful to Kura Support !

Introducing, Arthur the Incredible!

Art is a massive inspiration. He never misses physio and hydrotherapy and understands the importance and value in maintaining his physical health. We are in absolute awe of this man.

It was so heavy that it took both Art's physio Jen & SW Ally to pull the weight down to Art, & SW Allie to hold his chair for stabilisation. (We're not collecting Allies..... It just looks that way.) 😅

What an absolute inspiration!!!!!! Physiotherapist Jen also explained that this isnt just for fun it’s what can save Art’s life if he was to have a fall as he can now lift himself up due to his strength.
