Life Ready Visits the Fire Station 🔥🚒

Our Life Ready group recently enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Innisfail Fire Station, where participants learned about the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe.

A big thank you to Ray and the team for delivering such an interesting and informative talk and for taking the time to answer everyone's questions. Participants also enjoyed seeing the fire trucks and learning about the specialised equipment used by firefighters.

We sincerely appreciate the warm welcome from the Innisfail Fire Station team and look forward to more community visits that inspire our participants and introduce them to a variety of career opportunities.

🌾Our Life Ready group recently enjoyed a fascinating tour of the South Johnstone Sugar Mill (MSF), where participants followed the journey of sugar production from the cane bin right through to the finished product.

The tour provided a great insight into the milling process and the many roles involved in one of our region's most important industries.

A huge thank you to Kevin, Vanessa, Sam, Arthur, and Bradley for taking the time to show us around and share their knowledge. Your enthusiasm and hospitality made the experience both educational and enjoyable.

What an interesting day we had! 🚂

👖Jeans for Genes Day 👖

Wednesday's Activity Group dressed in their favourite denim to show their support and help raise awareness for a great cause. 💙

It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, having fun, and making a difference together. Every pair of jeans worn helped spark conversations and support an important cause.

Life Skills Group 🪡👛👒💵
Today's task focused on budgeting and making thoughtful purchasing decisions. Each participant was given a budget of $25 to "purchase" an outfit for a wedding. All three girls successfully chose dresses with matching handbags and shoes while staying under budget.

The next activity was to purchase a gift for a baby with a budget of $10. Once again, everyone selected suitable gifts and remained within their budget.

The final challenge was to choose a gift for a family member while working within a set budget. The participants carefully compared options, made considered choices, and all stayed within their spending limits.

It was a fun and engaging day that helped build practical everyday life skills, including budgeting, decision-making, planning, and shopping with a purpose.

🎉🏀🎶Kevin enjoyed a special birthday outing, starting the day at the Shire Hall where he watched the Elton John Experience. After lunch, Kevin and his support worker headed to the local PCYC, where they had fun playing a game of basketball together. Kevin had a wonderful day celebrating his birthday and thoroughly enjoyed all activities.
