🔴🔵 Shane’s Memorable NRL Day
At Brighter Access, we love supporting NDIS Participants to experience the things that bring them joy, and yesterday was certainly a day to remember for Shane and his family!
Shane, alongside his wife and boys, had the incredible opportunity to attend a special meet-and-greet with the Newcastle Knights, organised by his amazing Occupational Therapist (OT) Colette Dempsey.
The excitement started long before they arrived, with a country karaoke singalong in the car setting the tone for an unforgettable day. From the moment they arrived, Shane's enthusiasm was contagious. Family members proudly shared stories of Shane's own football-playing days, and it was clear how much the game continues to mean to him.
Shane was so excited to meet his sporting heroes that he shook so many hands his own hands were getting tired, but that didn't stop the handshakes, smiles, and thumbs-ups!
One of the biggest highlights came when one of Shane's favourite players gifted him a personal hat and signed it for him. Shane was absolutely thrilled and proudly showed it off throughout the day. Adding to the excitement, Shane's sons were invited onto the field to assist the players.
Watching from the sidelines, Shane cheered them on with pride, creating a memory the whole family will treasure. Most importantly, the day gave Shane quality time with his loved ones sharing laughs, making memories, and enjoying a sport he loves alongside the people who matter most.
It was a day filled with smiles, connection, inclusion, and joy. Seeing Shane feel so valued and engaged reminds us why these opportunities are so important. Thank you to everyone involved in making this experience so special for Shane and his family.
