Spring doesn't mean putting the broth away. 🌱

It just means we start using it differently.

During winter, our broths tend to find their way into big pots of soup, curries, stews and warming mugs.

While we start every day with a cup of bone broth all year round.....As the weather changes, we're starting to reach for lighter meals — spring vegetables, warm salads, fresh herbs, dressings and quick brothy meals loaded with greens.

And this is when our Vegetable Miso Broth really comes into its own.

Try it:
🌿 whisked into a dressing
🄦 tossed through warm vegetables
šŸš stirred through quinoa or rice
🄣 added to a quick spring soup
šŸœ made into a light broth with greens and noodles

Good pantry staples don't belong to one season.

We just change the way we use them.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads today — those we get to hold close, those we hold in our hearts, and all the different ways fatherhood is lived. 🧔

And to our Tone — thank you for being the kind of dad who shows up. For the laughs, the adventures, the silliness, the love… and for always being willing to reflect, learn and grow alongside our girl.

She’s a lucky one. And so am I.

Love your guts. 🧔

Spring detox? Our philosophy has always been: go gently. 🌿

There's something about spring that makes us want to clear things out.

Our homes. Our cupboards. Our gardens.

And sometimes, our bodies.

But here's the thing...

Your body is already detoxifying every single day.

Your liver, kidneys and digestive system are constantly processing and eliminating substances your body doesn't need.

So rather than thinking we need to aggressively detox ourselves, we prefer to think about creating the conditions that allow those natural processes to work well.

And that doesn't necessarily require a juice cleanse, a fast or an expensive supplement protocol.

Sometimes a spring reset is simply:

🌱 More plants
🄬 More bitter greens
šŸ’§ More water
🄦 Plenty of fibre
🚶 More movement
šŸ· A little less alcohol
šŸ Less sugar and ultra-processed food
🄚 Enough quality protein
ā˜€ļø More time outside
😓 And enough sleep

Small things, consistently.

Sometimes that's the best reset of all.

Spring has arrived šŸŒ±ā˜€ļø

The days are stretching out, the garden is waking up, and after months of soups, curries and slow-cooked meals, we’re starting to crave a little more freshness on our plates.

And I love that if we look at what’s beginning to grow around us, nature seems to be offering exactly that.

Asparagus, peas, broad beans, leafy greens, fresh herbs, spring onions, radishes and all those beautiful bitter greens start making their way back onto our plates.

Foods that are fresher, lighter and greener than much of what we’ve been eating through winter.

And perhaps there’s something worth paying attention to in that.

Traditional systems of medicine have been observing these seasonal rhythms for thousands of years. In Chinese medicine, spring is associated with movement, growth and the Liver, while Ayurveda encourages a shift away from winter’s heavier foods towards more bitter, pungent and astringent flavours.

But you don’t really need to know any of that to experience it.

Often our bodies start asking for the change themselves.

We begin craving more greens. More crunch. More freshness. We want to get outside more, move a little more and shake off some of winter’s heaviness.

And nutritionally, those spring foods bring exactly what we want more of anyway — fibre, diversity and an abundance of plant compounds that help nourish our gut microbiome and support our health.

Maybe seasonal eating doesn’t need to be complicated.

Perhaps it’s simply about noticing what’s growing, noticing what you’re craving, and allowing the way you eat to shift with the season.

🌱 What foods are you starting to crave now that spring is here?

Kinda chic……

The health of our soil literally mirrors the health of our food and therefore our communities. We are part of the ecosystem that is nature. Not separate from it. And we are the stewards who either take care of preserving or destroying this ecosystem and ourselves along with it.

The state of our food system, the amount of processed foods that line our supermarket shelves and the lack of consideration of nature by corporatised food is beyond belief.

A world where every place tastes the same and is disconnected from our food sources is a poorer world.

Your choices around food have the power to not only shape your health but the world šŸŒ

Friends don’t let friends eat seed oils… šŸ˜‰

Well… at least not if they know there are better options.

For decades we’ve been told that industrial seed oils are the ā€œheart healthyā€ choice.

But many of these oils begin life as seeds that contain very little oil naturally. Extracting that oil requires intensive industrial processing, followed by refining, bleaching and deodorising before it reaches the supermarket shelf.

They’re also naturally high in polyunsaturated fats, which are more prone to oxidation when exposed to heat, light and air. This is one of the reasons many people are choosing to return to traditional cooking fats.

Tallow has been used for generations—not because it was trendy, but because it works.

šŸ¤ Naturally stable for cooking at higher temperatures
šŸ¤ Beautiful for roasting, frying and sautĆ©ing
šŸ¤ Rich in naturally occurring fat-soluble vitamins
šŸ¤ Less processed than many modern cooking oils
šŸ¤ Delicious flavour and incredibly satisfying

At Tonemade we make two certified organic, grass-fed tallows:

šŸ’› Bone Broth Tallow – infused with the rich flavour of our 48-hour bone broth.

šŸ¤ Premium Organic Tallow – silky, neutral and perfect for everyday cooking (and skincare!).

Sometimes the best innovations aren’t new at all.

Sometimes they’re simply a return to traditional foods our grandparents knew and trusted.

WHY WE CHOOSE CERTIFIED ORGANIC GRASS-FED TALLOW

Not all tallow is created equal.

One of the reasons we’re so passionate about using certified organic, grass-fed tallow comes down to a simple principle…

Fat stores more than energy.

In both humans and animals, fat tissue helps store fat-soluble compounds, including certain environmental contaminants. While this is one of the body’s natural protective mechanisms, it also means the quality of the animal and how it has been raised really matters.

Choosing certified organic, grass-fed tallow helps reduce exposure to synthetic pesticides, herbicides and other agricultural chemicals that can make their way into the food chain.

It’s one of the reasons we’re so particular about where our tallow comes from.

When you choose an animal fat, you’re not just choosing the type of fat—you’re choosing the farming practices behind it.

For us, that means supporting farming systems that prioritise healthy soils, healthy pastures and animals raised as nature intended.

It’s why both our Premium Organic Tallow and our Bone Broth Tallow are made exclusively from certified organic, 100% grass-fed cattle Kate Harris

Because when it comes to food, we believe quality begins long before it reaches the kitchen.

Traditional food. Organic farming. Nothing unnecessary.

The beanies and scarfs are officially out to stayšŸ§£šŸ¤Ž Winter has definitely arrived this week.

I’ll admit, I used to spend a lot of winter wishing it away... dreaming of warmer weather and the next tropical escape.

Our trip to Bali last year was just what we needed, but it doesn’t look like another tropical getaway will be on the cards for us this year.

So... in lieu of that (and for everyone else spending winter at home too), we’re choosing to lean into the season rather than wishing it away.

The older I get, the more I realise that every season has something to teach us. Winter invites us to slow down.
To nourish ourselves a little more deeply. To embrace the quieter moments.

To help ease the bite of winter it’s nice to remind ourselves of the things we do like about the season…..

- Layers, beanies, scarfs, woolen socks and just lots of wool in general!
- Infrared lights & saunas
- Warm magnesium baths
- Morning cups of bone broth
- Mulled w**e shared with friends
- Warm spiced Apple C***r Vinegar Tonic
- Hot cacao, collagen and mushroom drinks before bed
- Curries, soups and slow-cooked meals back on the menu
- Wild beach walks with hardly another soul in sight
- Earlier nights and permission to rest a little more
- Cosy games nights at home
- Laughing for the sake of it and making silly faces

What are your favorite things about winter? We’d love to know 🧔

Made the way nature intended.

We don’t rush things.
Our bone broth is simmered slowly for 48 hours — because nature takes time, and so do we.

And instead of freeze-drying (which uses intense heat and pressure), we dehydrate gently at low temperatures to retain the full nutrient density of the broth — preserving the collagen, amino acids, and minerals your body truly needs.

No lab-derived flavours.
No drying aids.
No shortcuts.
No fillers.
Just real food, real process, real nourishment.

We stay as close to nature as possible — because our bodies recognise the difference.
