We see this (and here this) time and time again from women in clinic who strength train during pregnancy, the evidence also supports what we see in real life:
- easier recovery
- more physically confident and able in those first few weeks postpartum
- less abdominal separation or greater tension at linea alba
- better ability to engage pelvic floor and lower abdominals
- if laboured, greater endurance for active birth
- if c-section, greater strength and confidence to gently mobilise early (so many benefits here post surgery)
- greater confidence in return to exercise
Let alone the benefits during pregnancy! Whilst nothing 💯 guarantees what birth or postpartum will look like for you, and so many factors other than exercise come into play, it is definitely one big piece of the puzzle which can have longterm effects 💪🏼
If you are able to exercise in pregnancy, it honestly has a much longer lasting effect than just ‘pregnancy exercise’.
