We’re so thrilled to welcome our newest team member - Lei - to our team. Originally from New Zealand, Lei is a compassionate Occupational Therapist who recently moved to Brisbane and joined the paediatric team at Trees Physiotherapy after completing her Bachelor of Health Science (Occupational Therapy) at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).

Lei has an incredibly warm and gentle personality, which puts children and families at ease in her soothing presence. Her passion for paediatric occupational therapy comes from her love of working with children and having younger family members who have always been an important part of her life. This interest grew through her placements, particularly at Akoranga
Childcare Centre, where she supported children through play, music, and structured activities.

Throughout her training, she gained experience across paediatrics, community health, maternal mental health, intellectual disability, and orthopaedics. These experiences strengthened her communication, clinical reasoning, and ability to work collaboratively with
families and other professionals.

Lei values ongoing professional development and has completed the Art of Paediatric Therapy course, a certificate in Risk Assessment and Safety Planning (Child and Youth-Focused) and additional training in providing Functional Capacity Assessments.

She is passionate about making therapy meaningful and enjoyable for children and helping them build skills that support their participation in everyday life. She believes every child is unique and enjoys working alongside families to develop practical and meaningful therapy goals.

Outside of work, Lei enjoys exploring new food places, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Lei has immediate availability on her caseload so please reach out to [email protected] to secure your child’s spot.

Emily has been with us for a year now so is long overdue her social media introduction! 😅

Emily is a passionate Allied Health Assistant who brings warmth, positivity and lived experience to her role at Tree’s Physiotherapy. Emily has completed a Diploma in Community Health and Development as well as her Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance. She is also currently studying Occupational Therapy at University. Emily is passionate about helping her clients thrive in the pool, having completed her AUSTSWIM teacher qualification and enrolled in her Autism Swim Course.

Her professional path has been shaped by her own experiences as a mum of three, including her daughter who has a disability and has faced significant challenges. This personal perspective has given Emily a deep understanding of the power of compassionate, individualised care. Emily works closely with clients and the wider healthcare team to deliver person-centred, culturally respectful support. With empathy, kindness and a strong drive to make a difference, she’s here to help every client feel supported and empowered.

Outside of work (and in the rare quiet moment!), Emily enjoys relaxing with a coffee and spending time with her family.

It was so much fun trialling sit to stand chairs with the wonderful Kevin from Aidacare the other week.

A sit-to-stand wheelchair is a powered wheelchair that allows a child to safely move from a sitting position into a supported standing position at the touch of a button.

Standing can provide a range of benefits, including improved bone and joint health, active lengthening and strengthening of muscles, better circulation, and opportunities for children to interact with their environment and peers at eye level.

It’s not just about mobility, it’s about participation, independence and being a part of everyday moments. Just look at these gorgeous smiling faces! 😍

The cutest little splasher!! 💦 ☀️

Bellamy has not had the easiest journey in his little life so far. Despite recent hospitalisations and surgeries, he still continues to bring such brightness and joy to everyone around him with his sweet little personality and infectious smile. We’re so proud of how far you’ve come little man!
